Chelsea's Mason Mount bends it like Cristiano Ronaldo

Mason Mount is having quite the year under Chelsea manager Frank Lampard, but as a boy it was Cristiano Ronaldo that he modelled his free kicks after.

The Toe Poke Daily is here every day to bring you all the weirdest stories, quirkiest viral content and top trolling that the internet has to offer, all in one place.

Mason Mount is having quite the year under Chelsea manager Frank Lampard, with the former Blues legend giving the club's academy products -- like Mount -- a chance to shine with the first team.

And while Mount quite likely looks up to his manager at Stamford Bridge, footage from the training ground when he was just a lad shows there was another star he modelled his game after: Cristiano Ronaldo.

The 20-year-old, who's been at the Chelsea academy since the age of six, has four goals in 12 appearances this season and shared the spectacular curling free kick he scored as a boy on Twitter, which came from a just-released short feature film about him called "The Pride."

Along with his precocious advice to "hit the ball by the valve" to make it move -- which he says he learned by watching Ronaldo -- the video also reveals that Mount didn't have much of a social life as a child (he preferred resting up for training rather than going to parties).

He also says that when Jose Mourinho was manager at Chelsea, the Portuguese would tell Mount and other ballboys to delay giving the ball back to the opposing team when the Blues were ahead in matches.

Sage sporting advice from Jose there. Although it could come back to haunt the newly minted Tottenham manager when he returns to Stamford Bridge to face Chelsea and Mount for the first time from the opposing dugout on Feb. 22.

Flamengo may have some help from upstairs

In case you haven't heard, there's a pretty big game happening in South America on Saturday afternoon as defending Copa Libertadores champions River Plate play Brazilian giants Flamengo in the 2019 final in Lima, Peru.

Of course the match is the talk of the continent, with teams pulling out all the stops ahead of the match. However, Flamengo may have called in some assistance from a higher authority with this stunt they pulled off in Rio de Janeiro.

If you aren't sure what you are looking at, it's a picture of the iconic Christ the Redeemer statue in the club's hometown of Rio dressed from head to toe in the familiar red and black kit of Flamengo.

The stunt predictably was a massive hit with Fla fans all over Brazil, reportedly blowing up the Internet and even bringing some supporters to tears. Now it's up to runaway Brazilian league leaders to give their faithful the redemption they seek with a first Copa Libertadores title in 38 long years.

'Shaggy' meets Scooby Doo

Morelia full-back Jose Joaquin Martinez is more commonly known as "Shaggy" Martinez. And it's easy to see why based on his haircut.

At a recent Morelia game, a fan dressed as Scooby Doo was spotted in the stands and it didn't go unnoticed. Cue amusement as "Shaggy" responded with the Instagram message: "Scooby Doo? Where are you?"

The internet did its thing and "Shaggy" go meet "Scooby" after the game.

Now we just need the rest of the gang to pile into the Mystery Machine and figure out how Morelia can win Liga MX this season.

They'd have gotten away with it too, if it weren't for those meddling kids.
