The move comes as a bit of a surprise as the 32-year-old winger was Minnesota's best player and one of the best in the entire league during his two years with the club. In 64 games with the club, Quintero scored 27 goals and added 20 assists, while being named an MLS All-Star in 2018 and leading the Loons to a maiden playoff appearance in 2019.
The club declined to comment when asked by mlssoccer.com and there remains a possibility that Quintero could be traded within the league.

The Bluebirds currently sit 14th in the Championship and were relegated from the Premier League last May. The well-travelled Warnock's three-year tenure will be remembered very positively by supporters, as he not only led the club to a surprising promotion in 2018 but also handled the tragic death of Emiliano Sala and difficulties that came with that with such grace and reverence.
The 70-year-old had the following to say about his departure:

"I would especially like to thank Mehmet Dalman whom I have said many times has been one of the best Chairman I have had the privilege to work for. His support has been immense, especially in 2019 which for many reasons both on and off the field has been the most challenging period both emotionally and physically that I have ever encountered.

19.13 GMT: According to a story in the Irish Independent, Championship side Hull City have expressed interest in Shamrock Rovers duo Jack Byrne and Lee Grace.
Byrne, a 23-year-old midfielder, made his international debut for Ireland earlier this fall and was recently named the Professional Footballers' Association of Ireland Players' Player of the Year, while Grace, 26, starred this past season at centre-back for runners-up Rovers.
Byrne, who is expected to play for Ireland on Thursday against New Zealand, has previously had spells in England with Man City (youth), Blackburn, Wigan and Oldham.

Football Insider reports that United are monitoring Leeds midfielder Kalvin Phillips, 23. The report adds that Man United scouts have been "blown away" by the youngster's performances this season for Leeds and could make a move for him if Leeds fail to win promotion.
Linked extensively with Aston Villa over the summer, Phillips is one for the future and it is believed Leeds have already turned down a £20 million bid for him.

The winger recently revealed to France Football that Leicester blocked him from leaving for two years and that he was close to joining Arsenal after Leicester's historic Premier League triumph

"Leicester blocked me. They told me: "You're not leaving, you're not leaving". My agent had spoken to Wenger who really wanted me. It was nearly all done with Arsenal in 2016."
Mahrez sounds like someone who has a bit of a regret at the moment, especially when you consider he's only started five league games this season for the reigning champions.

TEAMTalk reports that Chelsea, Tottenham, Leicester, Watford, Newcastle and Norwich are all monitoring in-form Metz forward Habib Diallo. The 24-year-old bagged 26 goals last campaign in Ligue 2 to help Metz to promotion and has picked up right where he left off with eight goals in 13 games so far in the French top flight.
The breakout star of the Ligue 1 season, Diallo is valued at around £10 million. Will Metz, who figure to be in a relegation battle in May, hold on to Diallo or look to cash in on the Senegalese while his stock is high?

The outlet talkSport suggests the Reds are plotting a move for Bournemouth winger Ryan Fraser and are now the frontrunners to sign the Scotland international in January. The 25-year-old is a free agent at the end of the season, meaning the Cherries will likely be forced to sell him once the transfer window reopens.
Alex Crook on talkSPORT revealed Liverpool's interest on Drivetime, saying: "My understanding is Jurgen Klopp is lining up a surprise move for Bournemouth's Ryan Fraser.
"He is out of contract next summer and that means effectively Bournemouth will have to sell him in January.
"He has got more assists than any player in the Premier League since the start of last season. You have to caveat that and say he has not been in great form this season. He has been in and out of the Bournemouth team and when he has played he has not been as effective, as productive as in previous campaigns. You just wonder how much of that is down to the contract situation."
In a deal for Fraser, Bournemouth could look to make Harry Wilson's move permanent, as the 22-year-old winger has impressed during his loan to the South Coast. Fraser, who has gotten off to a slow start this season, bagged seven goals and 14 assists last season and would be a great option off the bench for Klopp.

PSG full-backs Thomas Meunier and Layvin Kurzawa are reportedly on Inter's radar, with both reportedly set to be available as free agents next summer.

Mertens, 32, has less than a year to run on his Napoli contract, and talks over a new deal at the Stadio San Paolo have reportedly stalled.
The Belgium international has scored seven goals in 15 club appearances this season, including three in the Champions League.
If Napoli cannot convince Mertens to stay, then the chance of joining up with international teammate Romelu Lukaku could help Inter entice him to join Antonio Conte's side for next season.
09.29 GMT: Paris Saint-Germain star Neymar's desire to leave the club and return to Barcelona is in the past, according to his teammate Marco Verratti.
Neymar's potential return to Barca two years after making his world-record €222m move to PSG was the biggest saga of this year's summer transfer window. Sources told ESPN FC that all three parties were trying to make the deal happen, but could not get it over the line before the window closed.
The Brazil striker missed his national team's victorious Copa America campaign and the start of this season through injury, and in all he has missed more than 50% of PSG's matches since joining them in 2017.
"Neymar is fine," Verratti told TF1. "He is certainly happier when he is on the pitch. However, he is working well. At one point, he wanted to leave. He had some difficult moments. In the end, he stayed and he is training better than ever. He really wants to return as soon as possible to help the team to go far."

08.47 GMT: Manchester United, Barcelona and Atletico Madrid are among Europe's leading clubs monitoring Rennes wunderkind Eduardo Camavinga, according to L'Equipe.
Camavinga turned 17 years of age on Sunday, but despite his tender years he has been an ever-present for Rennes in Ligue 1 this season, starting all 13 of their matches.
The midfielder, who was born in the Angolan-controlled exclave of Cabinda but recently gained French citizenship, is the most promising young player to emerge from the Rennes youth system since Ousmane Dembele, who now plays for Barcelona.
Camavinga is valued at around €30m, although the L'Equipe report adds that he is will not push for a move at this early stage in his career.
08.00 GMT: Arsenal remain behind manager Unai Emery, sources have told ESPN FC, amid reports claiming former Barcelona boss Luis Enrique could replace him.
Emery has come under increasing pressure at Arsenal after losing 2-0 to Leicester on Saturday. That result leaves the club eight points behind Manchester City in fourth place having played a game fewer, and nine points behind Leicester in second place.
Sources have also told ESPN FC that Luis Enrique would not consider a return to coaching right now after leaving the Spain job for personal reasons in June. They added that he likes to build projects and would not like to arrive at a club mid-season.
ESPN FC reported a week ago that Arsenal continued to back Emery, a three-time Europa League winner with Sevilla, despite giving up a two-goal lead to draw against Crystal Palace.
That stance has not changed after the defeat to Leicester, and he is unlikely to be sacked this season unless things deteriorate considerably.
Higuain set to sign new deal at Juve
Speaking of Chelsea, former Blues striker Gonzalo Higuain is set to sign a new deal with Juventus, according to Sky Sport Italia. Juve director Fabio Paratici spoke in the run-up to their league win over AC Milan -- Higuain's former club -- and confirmed that the striker is set to sign a new deal with the Old Lady.
The Argentina international struggled at Chelsea during his time at Stamford Bridge earlier this year. But he has hit form with Juve under Maurizio Sarri, once again showing why he is one of world's most respected strikers.
"He is playing very well and in my view has always been one of the top three centre-forwards in the world," says Paratici. "He's doing what we expect of him, he's a lovely guy as well as a great player and we are very happy with him."
Despite his struggle in the Premier League it seems that Higuain is most definitely back. And having hit form once more, Juve are in no mood to let him slip through their fingers.
