TOP STORY: Arsenal to move for Ndidi, Mertens and Volland?
Arsenal have a new manager -- it's Mikel Arteta in case you've been living under a rock for the past week -- and now they are looking to strengthen their team in the January transfer window.
The Gunners have had plenty of defensive issues in recent years so it's not a surprise they are being linked with one of the best tacklers in the Premier League: Leicester City midfielder Wilfred Ndidi. The Daily Mirror says that they are willing to offer £40m plus Granit Xhaka for the Nigerian enforcer.
However, it's not only defence that they need to improve if Arteta wants to get the club back into the top four so Sky Sports reports that Bayer Leverkusen forward Kevin Volland is on the list, while Calciomercato claims that 32-year-old Napoli winger Dries Mertens will be snapped up as he enters the final few months of his contract.

22.28 GMT: Now-19-year-old forward Jack Clarke enjoyed a breakout season at Leeds in 2018-19, which led to a move to Tottenham in the summer, with the London club immediately loaning him back to Marcelo Bielsa's side. Now unable to replicate his magic in the Championship and struggling for minutes, Spurs are considering recalling Clarke, alerting Fulham and Brentford, who are ready to pounce, the Mail writes.
21.41 GMT: AC Milan are interested in 17-year-old FC Zurich centre-back Becir Omeragic, but the Rossoneri will wait until the summer to launch any bid for the Swiss youth international, instead prioritising January deals that will immediately improve the club, according to Calciomercato.
20.54 GMT: Leicester are prepared to allow centre-back Filip Benkovic leave the club on loan once more, the Telegraph reports, with Championship club Derby County having launched a bid to bring the Croatia international to Pride Park for the remainder of the season.
20.07 GMT: Jose Mourinho has identified Issa Diop as the long-term replacement for Jan Vertonghen, according to Sky Sports, however West Ham aren't interested in selling the centre-back and will demand £50m if they are to part with the 22-year-old.
19.20 GMT: Espanyol will look to leverage their good relations with Shanghai SIPG to bring Hulk to the city of Barcelona, Catalan outlet Sport writes, but only if the Chinese Super League club can pay a portion of the Brazil international's exorbitant wages.
18.33 GMT: Leicester have enquired about Juventus centre-backs Merih Demiral and Daniele Rugani, according to the Telegraph, as the Foxes look for cover for Jonny Evans and Caglar Soyuncu.
17.46 GMT: While Inter Milan have long been linked with a move for Manchester United midfielder Nemanja Matic, Sky Sport Italia reports that Atletico Madrid have joined the race to sign the 31-year-old Serbia international.
16.59 GMT: Speaking of United, they are reportedly keen on Lokomotiv Moscow midfielder Aleksei Miranchuk, according to Tuttomercatoweb.
Miranchuk, 24, has scored nine goals in 21 appearances this season, while Italian trio Juventus, Inter Milan and Lazio are also following the Russian.
However, Miranchuk would reportedly prefer United and a deal worth €40m would see him move.

15.17 GMT: Lille midfielder Boubakary Soumare has caught the eye of Jose Mourinho at Tottenham, says L'Equipe.
Soumare, 20, has been watched by Man United, Napoli, Real Madrid and Valencia already but Tottenham are the ones willing to put up the £50m needed to land him.
14.33 GMT: Former Man United midfielder Keisuke Honda has left Dutch side Vitesse Arnhem after just over a month.
"I decided to leave the club because my mission was, when I came here, I wanted to change the situation. That was the mission, and I couldn't change the situation and [manager Leonid] Slutsky left the club," the ex-Japan international said on Twitter. "I'm feeling the responsibility for that, so I shouldn't stay here after the winter."
Honda had taken to Twitter to cheekily ask for a move back to Man United in September. A January transfer anyone?
13.54 GMT: Negotiations between Barcelona and Konrad de la Fuente over a new deal have broken down, with sources telling ESPN the American is keen to join former United States national team coach Jurgen Klinsmann at Hertha Berlin.
De la Fuente, 18, has been in talks with Barca over a contract extension for several months. The forward's terms expire in the summer but club sources said in November they were confident of striking an agreement with the U.S. youth international.
12.45 GMT: New Everton manager Carlo Ancelotti has said Zlatan Ibrahimovic is welcome to join the club after leaving the LA Galaxy on a free transfer, but not as a member of the first team squad.
"He is a good friend of mine," Ancelotti told a news conference. "I have trained a lot of fantastic players. I know he finishes his period in the United States, I don't know what his idea is.
"I have to call him, maybe I call him. If he wants to come to Liverpool to enjoy he can come -- but not to play!"
Quite the snub for Ibrahimovic, who must already be feeling pretty down after his statue in Sweden was vandalised once again, with the nose sawn off on Sunday.
11.56 GMT: PSG striker Edinson Cavani has agreed a three-year deal with Atletico Madrid, according to Sky Sports Italia.
Cavani, 32, will surely help the struggling Atletico strikeforce once he arrives on a free transfer in the summer, but the Spanish club will have to sell players in order to fit the Uruguayan into their wage structure.
11.35 GMT: Schalke 04 will sign Austria international Michael Gregoritsch on loan from Augsburg until the end of the season once the transfer window opens.
The Royal Blues, one of the Bundesliga's surprises of the season under former Huddersfield manager David Wagner, hope the forward can reinforce their attack as they compete for an unlikely Champions League spot.

10.34 GMT: Schalke goalkeeper Alexander Nubel is reportedly set to join Bayern Munich on a free transfer this summer.
Nubel, 23, announced on Sunday that he will leave the Royal Blues in the summer. But multiple reports in the German media claim Nubel will join Bayern, where he will act as backup to 33-year-old Germany international Manuel Neuer, who has no plans to retire from football yet.

Birmingham City and England youth midfielder Jude Bellingham is being linked to Manchester United by the Daily Telegraph.
The 16-year-old is also attracting interest from the Bundesliga after making the step up to the Birmingham first-team this season.
08.52 GMT: Colombia international Jimmy Chara has an offer from Major League Soccer club Portland Timbers and could leave Brazilian side Atletico Mineiro in January, according to Globo Esporte.
Chara, 28, joined the Brazilian outfit on a five-year contract in June 2018 for $5m from Atletico Junior, where he has scored 10 goals and made 68 appearances.
Mineiro have yet to accept the offer from the Timbers for Chara but if the deal goes through, he would join his brother Diego at the MLS club.
08.30 GMT: Boca Juniors goalkeeper Esteban Andrada is a target of Atletico Madrid, Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain, according to TyC Sports.
According to the Argentinian news outlet, Atletico would be interested in the Argentine in the event the club decides to sell highly-coveted Jan Oblak. Juventus are also in the race with veteran goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon expected to retire next summer, while PSG sent scouts to watch Andrada earlier this season.
Andrada, 28, signed an improved contract that runs until June 2023 earlier this year and has a release clause set at $25m. Since joining Boca from Lanus, he has made 59 appearances for Boca.

PSG to lure Paqueta from Milan
Paris Saint-Germain sporting director Leonardo has set his sights on a reunion with AC Milan midfielder Lucas Paqueta -- a player the Brazilian signed from Flamengo when he was in charge of incoming transfers at the Serie A giants.
The 22-year-old arrived at the San Siro nearly a year ago for a fee of around €35 million but has failed to make a significant impact in Italy, scoring just once in 28 appearances for the Rossoneri, but RMC Sport says PSG could be set to swoop in with an offer that would see Milan recoup all of their initial outlay on the player.
Leonardo forged a strong relationship with his compatriot during their time together in Milan, and the 11-cap Brazil international is believed to be interested in a move that would see him link up with a host of international colleagues, including Neymar, Thiago Silva and Marquinhos.
Nubel chase set to intensify
Schalke goalkeeper Alexander Nubel is set to be at the centre of a transfer tug-of-war after his club announced that he will leave on a free transfer upon the expiry of his contract at the end of the season, according to the Daily Mail.
The 23-year-old has kept 11 clean sheets in 35 appearances for the Gelsenkirchen-based side this season, sparking rumours of a move to either the Premier League or to a rival club in the Bundesliga.
Tottenham Hotspur are believed to be on the lookout for a new goalkeeper in the summer to provide further competition to Hugo Lloris, while German giants RB Leipzig and Borussia Dortmund are also believed to be mulling their options between the sticks.
Nubel has shone in goal since replacing Ralf Fahrmann halfway through last season, and has since been named Schalke's club captain.
Lyon line up quadruple catch
French outlet L'Équipe claims Lyon are preparing themselves for a busy January transfer window, with as many as four France internationals believed to be on their radar ahead of the New Year.
Reports suggest Atletico Madrid winger Thomas Lemar heads up manager Rudi Garcia's January wish list, along with Valencia striker Kevin Gameiro, Galatasaray midfielder Steven Nzonzi and 32-year-old free agent Hatem Ben Arfa.
Lemar has endured stop-start career in La Liga since joining Atletico from Monaco 18 months ago, and has been in and out of Diego Simeone's side this season. Gameiro, 32, and Nzonzi, 31, have had similarly difficult campaigns in Spain and Turkey respectively, while Ben Arfa has been on the lookout for a new club since leaving Rennes at the end of last season.

- AC Milan have put a string of Premier League clubs on red alert by placing a €30 million price tag on midfielder Franck Kessie, according to reports at Calciomercato. Wolverhampton Wanderers are rumoured to be one of the English sides in the race for the Ivory Coast international.
- Wolfsburg's Elvis Rexhbecaj has been struggling for game time at the Bundesliga side this season, and German newspaper Bild claims the 22-year-old could be set for a loan move in the New Year. Hannover had previously led the chase for the midfielder, but are now believed to be out the race for the player's temporary signature.
- Roma defender Juan Jesus has struggled for game time since the loan arrival of Manchester United's Chris Smalling, and Calciomercato claims the Brazilian could be headed for fellow Serie A side Bologna in the January transfer window. The 28-year-old has made just three Serie A appearances this season.
