LIVE Transfer Talk: Man United's Maddison move could include Lingard

It's go time as the January transfer window is open. Find out when it closes across Europe, view the latest transfers as they happen and keep up to date with the newest gossip below.

TOP STORY: Maddison and Lingard could swap sides in deal

The Daily Mirror reports that Manchester United could be prepared to throw in Jesse Lingard as part of a deal to bring James Maddison to the club.

Maddison is a long-term United target and has been in sparkling form for Leicester City as they continue their Champions League push. And now it seems that they're willing to offer Lingard to get the transfer over the line.

Lingard has endured a miserable campaign at Old Trafford and has fallen out of favour with Gareth Southgate and England. And although United think they will have to wait until the summer to complete the deal, their willingness to triple Maddison's weekly wage to £150,000, according to the report, could be enough to get him to Manchester.

LIVE BLOG

22.30 BST: Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has given an update on France international Olivier Giroud's future, sort of.

Speaking after the Blues' 1-0 win over Nottingham Forest in FA Cup action, Lampard said: "There's no update on Oli and my answer remains the same as it has done recently. I've spoken with him. If the conditions are that it's something Oli really wants to do and it works for the club and it works for me and the squad then it's something that could happen. But only when all three of those bases are covered."

The World Cup winning striker is seeking more playing time to stay in the mix for Les Bleus' Euro 2020 campaign, and has been tied with various clubs in England.

21.15 BST: On the MLS front, it seems likely that D.C. United -- you know, where Wayne Rooney once played -- are on the verge of signing of Morelia's Peruvian midfielder Edison Flores, according to the Washington Post.  The $5 million (plus a transfer fee) deal for one of Liga MX's standout players would help D.C. bolster their campaign to win a fifth MLS title.

20.50 BST: Following their 1-0 loss to a youth-laden Liverpool squad, newly minted Everton boss Carlo Ancelotti may be searching more than ever for some options to bolster his attack.

According to the Sunday Mirror, the former Real Madrid manager want to bring in Colombian star James Rodriguez from the Spanish club.

Rodriguez came back to Madrid after a two-season loan spell at Bayern Munich, including a spell under Ancelotti, but hasn't found much playing time for Zinedine Zidane's squad this season.

Perhaps a loan bid at Goodison Park and the tandem's previous time in Germany will help steer both James and Everton back onto a right path.

20.00 BST: All signs point to Brazilian midfielder Reinier Carvalho leaving Flamengo for Real Madrid, but the 17-year-old wonderkid is being coy about the seemingly big move.

When asked about a potential deal to Spain, Reiner said "Let's wait and see."

Sources have told ESPN that Flamengo are in talks with Spanish giants, with a number of top European clubs -- including Barcelona and Manchester City -- following the player.

Reinier, who was an unused substitute in Flamengo's Club World Cup final defeat to Liverpool last month, has a €30m release clause. A source also told ESPN Brazil that Madrid had already made an offer of €25m, but that Flamengo were holding out for the full release.

Under the terms of his contract, Reinier's clause will rise to €35m in June for the summer transfer window and to €70m after that.

Sources at Real Madrid have told ESPN that if a deal were to be agreed during the January window, Reinier would either stay at Flamengo on loan or join Real Madrid Castilla.

18.12 BST: Goal reports that Manchester United have once again set their sights on Sporting Lisbon midfielder Bruno Fernandes.

United are light on midfielders with Paul Pogba and Scott McTominay both injured and the report claims the club want to sign the 22-year-old this month.

Fernandes signed a contract extension with Sporting in November which increased the player's release clause to £85 million.

16.36 BST: Tottenham defender Toby Alderweireld has said he decided to commit his long term future to the club due to loyalty rather than money.

The Belgium international put pen to paper on a new deal last month which will see him remain at Spurs until 2023. Alderweireld reportedly received a huge pay rise but he insists money wasn't a deciding factor in his contract extension.

"Financially the club made a good effort that showed me they really wanted me so that gave me respect," he told the Telegraph. "I could maybe earn a lot more somewhere else, but then I chose loyalty, that's worth something as well."

15.01 BST: Galatasaray have announced the signing of Henry Onyekuru on loan from AS Monaco for the rest of the season.

The Nigeria international previously played for the Turkish club on loan in 2018-19 and scored 14 goals in 31 league appearances. It's fair to say that the club are delighted to have him back.

14.31 BST: Arsenal are seeking to sign Bayern Munich defender Jerome Boateng on loan, according to Sky Sports.

The 31-year-old is reportedly keen to leave the Bundesliga champions in this transfer window and Bayern are willing to accept a fee around £12.8 million.

The Gunners are looking to strengthen at the back with Calum Chambers ruled out for the rest of the season with a knee injury.

13.42 BST: Elvis has left the building!

Wolfsburg have announced midfielder Elvis Rexhbecaj is set to join FC Cologne. The two sides have come to an agreement and the 22-year-old will sign on a loan deal subject to a medical.

12.37 BST: Newcastle United are interested in signing Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud this month, according to the Telegraph.

Newcastle boss Steve Bruce admitted his side need more attacking options after they drew with League One side Rochdale in the FA Cup on Saturday.

The report claims that Giroud would be tempted to make the move to St James's Park but Chelsea will only let him leave if they can find a replacement.

11.03 BST: Well-connected journalist Gianluca Di Marzio reckons Edinson Cavani to Atletico Madrid in the summer is now a done deal on a two-year contract. The Uruguayan striker is out of contract in the summer and while Atleti would like him to move this month, a deal is difficult to do with PSG.

10.14 BST: Could West Ham really tempt highly rated Napoli centre-back Kalidou Koulibaly to the London Stadium? According to the Sunday Express, boss David Moyes could try and beat Manchester City to bring the 28-year-old to the Premier League but he might cost around £70m.

09.30 BST: It might be a Sunday, but the wheels of the transfer window bus don't stop turning. Stay with us for all the market latest as it happens.

PAPER ROUND: Chelsea willing to sell Emerson to Juve

Frank Lampard could be tempted to offload both Emerson Palmieri and Marcos Alonso, with the former potentially heading to Juventus as early as this month.

That's according to Calciomercato, which claims that Chelsea and Juventus officials have been in touch over a possible deal, and although the Bianconeri would prefer to do their business in the summer, there is the potential of a loan deal with an obligation to buy happening in January.

The 25-year-old arrived in West London in January 2018, moving from Roma for a fee of over £17 million. Chelsea's apparent willingness to sell comes as something of a surprise given he still appears to be a part of the club's future plans, but stranger things have happened.

And should Emerson depart, he can be confident of being a key part of Juve's first team line-up, and that in itself could be crucial with Euro 2020 looming this summer. Watch this space.

No-go for Begovic

Bournemouth will stop either Aston Villa or West Ham from buying Asmir Begovic, as the Cherries face up to a full-on relegation scrap.

That's according to the Daily Star, which claims that Eddie Howe will turn down any move for his keeper from teams down among the relegation candidates of the Premier League. Begovic has just returned from a loan spell in Azerbaijan with Qarabag FK and is thought to be prepared to take a drop in his £110,000 weekly salary.

But Bournemouth know just how much Premier League survival is worth and they won't be cashing in on their No. 2 anytime soon.

Tap-in

- West Ham are gearing up for showdown talks with Portuguese giants Benfica over the signing of Gedson Fernandes, so says the Daily Mail. The 20-year-old has a monumental release clause of £102m, but new Hammers boss David Moyes has admitted that the struggling Londoners are still keen on bringing him to the capital.
