The coronavirus pandemic made the summer transfer market unlike any before it, but there were still plenty of deals done, and you can check out the major ones here. The window might be closed across the top leagues in Europe, but here are the best rumours from around the globe.

TOP STORY: PSG to move for unhappy Eriksen

Inter Milan manager Antonio Conte is unhappy with Christian Eriksen, Gazzetta dello Sport reports, and the midfielder could be set to join Paris Saint-Germain in the winter window.

The Denmark captain has been in Italy for less than a year following his €20m move from Tottenham Hotspur in January but the rumours are growing stronger that he won't be in Milan much longer.

The report indicates that Conte believes the two men do not understand each other and, as a result of that, their working relationship may be severed. While Eriksen's contract is set to last until the end of the 2023-24 campaign, PSG are tipped as his most likely destination -- potentially in a few weeks' time.

He is yet to play a full 90 minutes in Serie A this season and, speaking last month, said: "I don't want to sit the bench for the whole season. I hope this isn't the coach's or the club's intention. It is going to be a busy season, lot of games in [the] programme, I expect to play.!

22.34 BST: FC Porto centre-back Pepe has signed a new contract that will keep him at the Portuguese giants until 2023.

15.27 GMT: Liverpool's defensive issues have been the subject of much discussion this season but could Schalke defender Malick Thiaw be the answer?

BILD reports that Liverpool "maintain regular contact" with the 19-year-old, though he has a contract until 2024 and it has no release clause, so signing him could prove tough.

Virgil van Dijk's season-long injury has got the Reds scrambling to sign a new player in January, with Schalke's Ozan Kabak also on their radar.

14.30 GMT: Mikel Arteta has admitted he is "fed up" with William Saliba's lack of game-time at Arsenal and hinted the defender could leave on loan in January.

Reports in France have suggested the 19-year-old is frustrated at his lack of involvement after not being included in the Gunners' squads for Premier League or Europa League matches.

That decision leaves Saliba, who signed for Arsenal from Saint-Etienne for £27mi before being loaned back to the Ligue 1 club for the 2019-20 campaign, facing up to a spell of U23 football having failed to secure a temporary switch in the final few days of the transfer window.

Saliba was close to returning to Saint-Etienne for another loan spell and had attracted interest from a number of Championship clubs including Watford, Norwich and Brentford but an agreement could not be reached.

And when Saliba's alleged unhappiness was put to Arteta, the Spaniard said: "I am fed up with the situation because as you could see we tried to find a way in the last few days to give him some football.

"I explained that he needed that transition year when we decided to buy him and send him on loan to Saint-Etienne, for many reasons that didn't happen, he didn't have that transition year and he needs to go through that.

"At the moment, with the amount of central defenders that we have in the team we had to leave him out of the squad which is painful because we have some injuries and we could have used him, but it's part of this profession."

Asked whether he could go out on loan when the transfer window opens again in January, Arteta added: "I don't know, we certainly tried in the last few days of the transfer window to find the right club and we had it, but at the end of the day we could not make it. We will review his situation in the next few weeks, sit down with him as well and see what is the best thing to do. But it will depend on him and other players' situation as well."

13.34 GMT: Less than two months into the 2020-21 season there are already question marks over head coaches at some of Europe's biggest clubs following less than impressive starts. While it's probably a bit early yet to be making drastic changes, no doubt club chairmen and sporting directors will have an eye out for potential replacements should things not pick up.

12.07 GMT: Manchester United failed in a €50m attempt to land Bayer Leverkusen winger Moussa Diaby this summer, Sport Bild reports.

Diaby, 21, was on the Red Devils' list this summer as they attempted to reinforce their attack, However, having already lost Kai Havertz to Chelsea and Kevin Volland to AS Monaco, Leverkusen blocked the negotiations when informed of the interest by Diaby's agent.

United were reportedly willing to offer €50m for the former Paris Saint-Germain player before eventually signing Atalanta's Amad Diallo Traore for a fee worth €21m, plus another €20m in add-ons.

"It was not only Havertz this summer. There were three, four other players targeted by European clubs," Leverkusen chief Rudi Voller said. "Moussa Diaby was among them."

Diaby moved to Leverkusen for around €15m in the summer of 2019 and has scored eight goals in 39 games for the club.

11.16 GMT: Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos is set to be a free agent at the end of the season, but it doesn't look like the club will be letting him go any time soon.

Ramos, 34, scored his 100th goal for Madrid during their 3-2 Champions League win over Inter Milan on Tuesday. An incredible feat for a centre-back, the Spaniard is considered one of the best defenders in the world and manager Zinedine Zidane praised him after the game.

"As always, he is our captain, our leader," he said. "We want him here forever, it is what he is doing, showing that he always wants to. I have no doubt that he will stay and that it will continue to make history."

10.42 GMT: Liverpool spent around £41m to sign Diogo Jota from Wolves this summer. Many thought he'd be a backup but he's making his case to start.

09.55 GMT: Man United and Paul Pogba have a problem: Why so good in Champions League, but so bad in Premier League? Julien Laurens explains.

The debate over Pogba -- his performances, his consistency, his future at Man United -- has been raging ever since he returned to Old Trafford in July 2016. He is, on pure talent, one of the best midfielders in the world. There is nothing he can't do. Yet it's been four years of ups and downs for him at the club level -- some will say more downs than ups, too. To get the best of him, you need a structure around him. You need to play with a plan, like United did against Leipzig and against PSG when he came on.

Against Arsenal, there was nothing. No movement, no tactics and no reaction, even after it became pretty clear how dominant the Gunners were in midfield. Pogba spent his second half on the left side of a three in the 4-2-3-1 formation Solskjaer played. Against Chelsea a week earlier, Pogba came on almost as a second striker, just behind Edinson Cavani. These are not his best positions. It's true that his talent should mean he can perform well regardless of where he plays. But in a team that's been quite dysfunctional at times and with no real collective strength, it is not easy.

09.05 GMT: Arsenal, Tottenham, Wolves, Everton, Southampton, Newcastle and West Ham are all reportedly interested in signing Orbelin Pineda, says 90min.

Pineda, 24, has impressed for Cruz Azul since moving from Guadalajara in 2016.

Manchester City had been linked with the Mexico international back then, while Ajax, PSV Eindhoven, Porto and Monaco have also reportedly been keeping an eye on him.

08.30 GMT: Spanish left-back Sergio Reguilon has seen a drastic change in Gareth Bale since the two left Real Madrid to join Tottenham this summer.

"He's really happy. He seems different to me," Reguilon told El Larguero. "The language is everything for him. He speaks Spanish well, it's not bad, a bit like me in English. Communication, the habits, mean he's happier in England... I have no idea if he'll return (to Madrid).

"What most surprised me is at Tottenham's training ground there are golf holes. I asked and they told me they were put there for him! There are short holes, maybe 30 metres, in the training ground. I couldn't believe it. When training is finished, you can pick up a club and play!"

Reguilon has adapted well to Tottenham since his summer transfer from Real Madrid and said: "It's going very well with [Jose] Mourinho, honestly, it's fantastic. I love this type of coach: intense, demanding. I hope he doesn't get angry!" 

Real Madrid included a buy-back option on Reguilon, with the defender revealing: "Madrid is my home and where I grew up. In the future you never know but the possibility is there."
