TOP STORY: Man United's Matic to reunite with Mourinho at Roma

Roma are set to complete a deal for Manchester United midfielder Nemanja Matic, according to Gianluca Di Marzio.

Matic, 33, made 23 Premier League appearances this season, but has decided to leave United on a free transfer this summer after an eight-year spell in England's top flight that began with a €25 million move to Chelsea from Benfica in 2014.

The Serbia international will sign a one-year deal with the Serie A side, which includes the option of a further year until the summer of 2024, as Roma boss Jose Mourinho has been looking to reunite with the player he managed at Chelsea as well as Old Trafford.

It is reported that Matic had a number of offers from around Europe, but decided on making the switch to the Estadio Olimpico for the chance to work under Mourinho again, with the Portuguese boss understood to be the decisive factor in his decision.

22.00 BST: The Sun have claimed that Romelu Lukaku joining Internazionale could allow Chelsea to sign Barcelona's Ousmane Dembele if he leaves as a free agent or wantaway Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski, even if Lukaku only leaves on loan.

Inter would only be covering just over a third of the Belgium international's £325,000-per-week wages, but there would also be a £20m loan fee while the striker would be willing to take a pay cut, which could help the Blues make a move of their own. There are said to be plenty of hurdles to overcome before any move for Lukaku can materialise.

21.20 BST: Arsenal and West Ham United have both expressed an interest in signing versatile Manchester City defender Oleksandr Zinchenko, as reported by The Evening Standard. The 25-year-old had been fully focused on his duties with Ukraine while they were attempting to qualify for the World Cup, but clubs are now hoping they will be able to discuss a move, with City unlikely to stand in Zinchenko's way if he wants to move to get more game time.

20.35 BST: Lorient are hoping to keep Enzo Le Fee and could even offer him a contract extension with his current deal lasting until 2024, according to L'Equipe, who add that there is interest in the 22-year-old from across France and two Bundesliga clubs. There are also plenty of eyes on Terem Moffi and Armand Lauriante, who Lorient expect to leave this summer.

19.55 BST: Napoli are continuing negotiations with Udinese regarding a possible move for Gerard Deulofeu, according to Tuttosport, who add that Gli Azzurri have reached €18m in their offer and have an agreement with the Spaniard while Udinese want €20m. There could also be a swap that would see Beto join Napoli and Andrea Petagna head to Udinese with financial adjustments being made to the deal.

19.30 BST: Tottenham Hotspur are asking for a €30m transfer fee for Steven Bergwijn's services, according to Fabrizio Romano. While other teams are looking at the Dutchman, Ajax have been focusing on him since January and are working on an official proposal, with no agreement reached so far.

19.12 BST: Leeds United, Everton, and AFC Bournemouth are all hoping to sign Blackburn Rovers attacker Ben Brereton Diaz but could be set to miss out, according to The Sun. That is because of competition they are set to face from across Europe, with La Liga sides Sevilla, Real Betis and Valencia all having registered their interest in the Chile international. Blackburn are said to be looking for around £13m.

18.48 BST: After Jovane Cabral spent the second half of the season on loan with Lazio, they could bring him in from Sporting CP again, reports La Gazzetta dello Sport. They will initially try to sign the Cape Verde international on loan again, after he scored his only goal for the club in a draw against Hellas Verona on the final day of the Serie A season. They have the option to make his transfer permanent if they pay €6m by 31st May, but Sporting are willing to accept a little under €5m.

18.25 BST: Empoli midfielder Kristjan Asllani wants to stay in Italy as he aims to take his next step, according to Calciomercato, with this decision coming despite interest from Newcastle United.

Within Serie A, Internazionale and AC Milan are very keen to sign the Albania international. The Nerazzurri would like to bring him in immediately as the deputy for Marcelo Brozovic, while the Rossoneri would prefer to sign the midfielder and initially send him back on loan to Empoli for six months or a year.

18.00 BST: As confirmed by the club's official channels, Marcel Halstenberg has extended his contract with RB Leipzig, which will keep him with the DFB-Pokal winners until 2024. The defender joined them from St. Pauli in 2015 and has made 200 competitive appearances for the club.

17.02 BST: Fulham, Southampton and Leeds United are all interested in signing Manchester United centre-back Phil Jones, according to Ekrem Konur.

The 30-year-old has been at Old Trafford since 2011 but often struggled for game time, managing 416 minutes across all competitions last season.

15.23 BST: Marca says that Newcastle United are ready to pay €60m to sign Atletico Madrid winger Yannick Carrasco.

Carrasco, 28, was the subject of interest from Newcastle in January and the club will return this summer to pay his release clause.

The Belgium international scored six goals and put in seven assists in 44 games this season and was a key player for Diego Simeone, while he has been tracked by Tottenham and Aston Villa as well.

14.32 BST: Sporting CP defender Goncalo Inacio is being linked with a number of top clubs, including Man United, says A Bola.

Inacio, 20, has caught the eye in Portugal and is being tracked by Newcastle United and Wolves. However, he wants to fight for titles, so has his sights set a bit higher.

Lucky then that United are reportedly ready to put in a bid of €40m plus €5m in bonuses, in the knowledge that he has a €45m release clause in his contract.

13.59 BST: James Milner has signed a new contract with Liverpool, the club have announced.

"I'm very pleased to be staying for another season," Milner told Liverpoolfc.com. "I have never taken playing for this club for granted and I never will.

"An overriding feeling for me - and a vitally important one in the process - was the belief I can still contribute to the team. The gaffer was clear what he thought and that was a big factor in me extending my contract.

"Ultimately it was a decision I made, with the support of my family, on the basis of the quality of people at the club; teammates first and foremost, along with the manager and coaches. Plus the brilliant training ground staff, who are the heartbeat of AXA. From the medical room, sports science, the kit department, nutrition, the canteen and office staff. All people who make the team what it is. As long as I can still play my part, that's not something easy to walk away from."

13.33 BST: Liverpool have Benfica forward Darwin Nunez on their radar, says The Times.

Nunez, 22, had 34 goals in 41 games across all competitions this season and has attracted the interest of a host of elite European clubs.

Liverpool reportedly view the Uruguay international as a possible replacement for one of Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah should they exit this summer. However, Benfica could ask for a €120m transfer fee, with his release clause set at €150m, and Liverpool are unwilling to reach that level.

Lewandowski, 33, is currently with the Poland national team, where he has made it clear that, for him, his time with Bayern has "come to an end."

Barca coach Xavi Hernandez has confirmed the club's interest in the forward but Barca's financial situation and Bayern's reluctance to sell is holding up a deal for the time being.

Bayern would first like to sign a replacement for Lewandowski, who is out of contract with the German club next summer, when he could walk away for free.

Lewandowski, meanwhile, hopes the pressure he has put on Bayern will pay dividends and that a transfer can be completed before the end of the month as he does not want to have to start preseason with the Bundesliga champions.

10.53 BST: Manchester United still hope to persuade Frenkie de Jong to join them by making him the leader of their new project under Erik ten Hag, according to Mundo Deportivo.

Ten Hag, who coached De Jong at Ajax, is reported to be convinced he will be able to get the midfielder to change his mind and make the switch to Old Trafford this summer. United believe the chance to have a team built around him, coupled with a pay rise, can make up for their lack of Champions League football.

De Jong, 25, has repeatedly expressed his desire to stay at Barca, who he joined in 2019, and sources close to the player have told ESPN he would prefer to join a club in the Champions League if he does have to move.

However, United are currently the club pushing hardest for his signature and Barca are open to offers due to their financial situation, with the Catalan club asking for around €85m.

10.25 BST: Marca reports that Man City striker Gabriel Jesus is an option for Real Madrid to sign this summer.

Jesus, 25, looks set to leave City now they have signed Erling Haaland from Dortmund.

Madrid are keen to bring in a long-term replacement for Karim Benzema and could offer Jesus an excellent wage packet as well.

09.51 BST: Angel Di Maria could delay his move to Juventus in case the chance to join Barcelona arises this summer, says Mundo Deportivo.

Di Maria, 34, is available for free after running his contract down with Paris Saint-Germain and has been widely tipped to sign for Italian side Juve.

However, the Argentina winger is said to be waiting to see what happens with Ousmane Dembele's contract situation at Camp Nou before making a final decision.

In the event that Dembele leaves and Barca don't manage to strike a deal with Leeds United to sign Raphinha, they could turn their attention to Di Maria, who has been linked with the club several times in the past.

08.47 BST: Liverpool midfielder James Milner is set to sign a new one-year contract at the club, says The Athletic.

Milner, 36, has reportedly "turned down more lucrative offers which included two-year deals at two Premier League clubs and one Major League Soccer franchise" to stay at Anfield on a reduced salary.

The former England midfielder made 39 appearances for Liverpool across all competitions in 2021-22, with his experience key to helping the club win two trophies (FA Cup and Carabao Cup) and go close to the Premier League and Champions League.

Pereira has impressed during a loan spell at Flamengo, but a permanent move to Brazil has all but collapsed. Sources told ESPN he is expected back at United in the summer with new manager Erik ten Hag, who knows Pereira from their time together at PSV Eindhoven, keen to take a closer look at the 26-year-old during preseason.

With Mane reportedly in search of a new challenge, Bild indicates that Jurgen Klopp's side are now looking to make a move for the U.S. men's national team winger, whom they had a bid turned down for in 2016. The 23-year-old Chelsea winger made 13 Premier League starts last season.

- Liverpool have turned down Bayern Munich's opening bid of an initial £21 million for Mane, reveals The Times. The Bundesliga club have been strongly linked with the 30-year-old Senegal winger in recent weeks, but it looks as though Liverpool aren't prepared to let him go for a low fee, despite him being interested in making the switch to the Allianz Arena. It is reported that the approach involved some add-ons worth £4m, which would have raised the overall value of the deal to £25m.

- Roma are keen on acquiring Juan Cuadrado from Juventus, reports Calciomercato. While the 34-year-old wing-back's automatic extension clause recently activated to see him remain at the Allianz Stadium until 2024, Mourinho is interested in signing him this summer. - Al Nassr are prepared to part ways with Vincent Aboubakar, who is attracting interest from clubs in both England and Spain, reveals Ekrem Konur. The 30-year-old Cameroon international has seen a number of clubs monitoring his progress since his standout performances at the Africa Cup of Nations, where he scored eight goals in seven games. It is reported that he could be allowed to leave for a fee of €10m, with Fenerbahce are also interested in landing the forward.

- Napoli have joined the race for Valencia midfielder Carlos Soler, according to Marca. The 25-year-old attacking midfielder is on the radar of a number of clubs across Europe, and while he is reported to prefer a transfer within Spain, it is understood that he is open to a move abroad if he receives a suitable offer. Barcelona and Atletico Madrid are his two most likely destinations if he does remain in his home nation, though they are yet to make an official approach to Los Che.
