TOP STORY: Cristiano Ronaldo exploring options for Man United exit
Cristiano Ronaldo is looking to find another club this summer, according to a report from La Repubblica in Italy.
The Manchester United star does not feel like he is part of Erik ten Hag's plans going forward, the report says, with the former Ajax boss keen on establishing a style at Old Trafford that presses aggressively from the front.
The 37-year-old forward's agent, Jorge Mendes, is now understood to be searching for potential offers around Europe, with two clubs having expressed interest his services.
Roma are one of the clubs reported to have opened talks for Ronaldo, with the Serie A side hopeful of using manager Jose Mourinho's influence in the deal. Meanwhile, Sporting CP are also hopeful of setting up a reunion with Ronaldo, who came through the Portuguese side's youth system before leaving for Manchester United in 2003.
The Portugal international finished the 2021/22 campaign as the Red Devils' top scorer last season, with 24 goals in 37 appearances.

22.17 BST: Chelsea are showing interest in Inter Milan defender Martin Skriniar in a deal that could lead striker Romelu Lukaku to rejoin his former club in Italy, according to the Daily Mail.
Thomas Tuchel is looking for a new central defender after the departures of Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen. Skriniar played 48 games across all competitions for Inter last season and helped them to a second-place finish in Serie A.
21.35 BST: Atlético Madrid are working to sign Belgium international Axel Witsel on a free transfer from Borussia Dortmund, according to Belgian outlet RTBF Sport.
Witsel made 41 appearances in all competitions for Dortmund last season and scored twice in 29 Bundesliga games.
Reports claim that the 33-year-old could arrive in Madrid next week for a physical, after which the club would announce his signing.
20.40 BST: Monaco are favourites to sign Liverpool's attacking midfielder Takumi Minamino this summer ahead of his exit from Anfield, reports The Mirror.
Lyon, Leeds United, and Atalanta are among others clubs showing interest in the Japan international. The 27-year-old scored 10 goals for Liverpool last season to help the Reds win both the FA Cup and League Cup.
19.38 BST: Massive Report is reporting that Columbus Crew are close to confirming a deal for forward Juan "Cucho" Hernández from Watford FC, who played last season in the Premier League before being relegated. The Colombian scored five goals for Watford in his first season in the Premier League.
The Colombian forward is set to arrive on a multi-year Designated Player deal worth in excess of $10m.
18.45 BST: Inter Miami have had talks to sign PSV midfielder Mario Gotze, according to MLSsoccer. Miami had a scout in Eindhoven, as Gotze is one of a few targets for the club. Gotze has a €4 million release clause in his contract, and Benfica and Eintracht Frankfurt are also looking to sign him.
18.05 BST: OL Reign have announced the signing of Olympic gold medal winner Jordyn Huitema from Paris Saint-German on a one-year deal, according to official sources.
Huitema made 71 appearances with PSG and scored nine goals across all competitions.
She was part of the squad that helped the club win its first-ever Division 1 Feminine title in 2021.
OL Reign also announced that they had signed USWNT star Tobin Heath on a season-long deal.
17.21 BST: Real Madrid plan to sign striker Erling Haaland in 2024 as Karim Benzema's successor, according to Diario AS.
The Norway international will join Premier League champions Manchester City from Borussia Dortmund on July 1 on a five-year contract.
His contract at City reportedly includes a release clause which could see him leave in two years' time if a £128m (€149m) fee is paid.
Despite missing out on the signing of France forward Kylian Mbappe, who decided to remain at Paris Saint-Germain, Madrid are not on the market for a new striker this summer. Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti believes he has his attacking line well covered with Karim Benzema, Vinicius Jr., Rodrygo and Marco Asensio.
Madrid's priority right now is for Benzema and Vinicius to sign new deals. Vinicius, 21, has two years left on his contract and has been offered a new long-term contract.
Benzema, 34, is under contract until June 2023 and is expected to sign a one-year contract extension after his impressive campaign. The French forward is widely expected to win the Ballon d'Or this year after scoring 44 goals in 46 games to help Madrid win LaLiga and the Champions League.
16.34 BST: Manchester United are confident that they can make a breakthrough in their pursuit of Frenkie de Jong by Barcelona lowering the transfer fee they are willing to accept for the midfielder, the Guardian reports.
Sources told ESPN's Rob Dawson this week that United fear Barca are trying to hike the fee in an effort to help solve their financial problems with one major departure. The two clubs are in talks over a deal for De Jong, who has given United enough encouragement that he would be willing to move to Old Trafford for Erik ten Hag to believe an agreement is possible.
According to sources, Barcelona have been looking to receive €100m, but United's valuation is closer to €60m with add-ons for the Netherlands midfielder. No the Guardian reports that United believe there is some room for negotiation over a transfer fee to bring it closer to what they would be willing to pay.
15.58 BST: England defender Lucy Bronze has joined Barcelona on a free transfer after leaving Manchester City.
Bronze, the FIFA Best Women's Player of the Year for 2020, has signed a two-year contract. She has Champions League winning pedigree having won the competition three times in a row with Lyon.
During her second stint with City, she won the women's FA Cup and women's League Cup. The Women's Super League club had said Bronze would leave with her contract set to expire this month.
Barcelona's women team won the domestic treble last season, winning 45 of their 47 matches all season, but lost in the Champions League final to Lyon.
15.19 BST: Dani Alves has laughed off reports he will join Real Mallorca this summer after leaving Barcelona earlier this week.
The veteran Brazilian right-back is looking for a new club after his contract at Camp Nou was not renewed.
Alves, who captained Brazil in their recent postseason friendlies, is searching for a new club to give him playing time ahead of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar in November.
The 39-year-old, who re-joined Barca in November as a free agent, wants to continue playing in Europe. However, LaLiga side Mallorca will not be his next destination.
A report claimed Alves could potentially join them for the 2022-23 season to work under coach Javier Aguirre.
However, Alves responded to those reports on Twitter by posting: "It's a lie!!! Thank you!!"

14.36 BST: Paris Saint-Germain have reached an agreement to sign FC Porto midfielder Vitinha for €40m after activating the Portugal international's release clause, according to Record.
Vitinha returned to FC Porto last summer after a season-long loan at Wolverhampton and made 47 appearances across all competitions.
The 22-year-old is set to team up with fellow Portugal internationals Danilo Pereira and Nuno Mendes at PSG.
13.58 BST: Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah has signed a new long-term contract at the club after his previous deal was due to expire this summer.
The 23-year-old joined the Gunners as a teenager and has made 92 first-team appearances, scoring 23 goals.
Nketiah has also been handed the No. 14 jersey, previously worn by Thierry Henry, for next season.
"I'm delighted Eddie is staying with us. He represents what we are all about and all the values of the club," manager Mikel Arteta said. "We are very happy that he has extended his contract and now we have to get to work and continue to develop the great talent and person that we have in him."

13.21 BST: Brighton & Hove Albion are reluctant to let Manchester City target Marc Cucurella leave the club this summer, The Times reports.
Cucurella, 23, was named Brighton's player of the year following his first season in the Premier League after helping the club finish ninth, their highest-ever finish in the top flight.
The former Barcelona player was signed for £15.4m from Getafe last summer, and The Times reports that Brighton want more than twice that amount to let him leave, especially after already seeing midfielder Yves Bissouma depart for Tottenham this week.
12.37 BST: Chelsea coach Thomas Tuchel would like to replace Romelu Lukaku with Robert Lewandowski, but there are significant obstacles to completing both deals, sources told ESPN's James Olley.
Lukaku is keen on rejoining Inter Milan and endured a disappointing first season back at Stamford Bridge -- with eight goals in 26 Premier League games -- after leaving the Serie A club for €115 million last summer.
Sources told ESPN that talks took place between Lukaku and the club in recent days, during which Chelsea signalled their willingness to allow the Belgian striker to leave the club. However, the Blues want to recoup the vast majority of the club-record fee they paid just a year earlier, while Inter are short on cash and would prefer a loan deal.
Chelsea had originally been asking for around €20m-€25m to lend Lukaku for just one season in an effort to offset any depreciation in his transfer value given he turns 30 next year. However, they are now willing to accept a significantly lower fee and talks are continuing -- it is as yet undecided whether any agreement will include an option or obligation to make the move permanent, or how his £300,000-a-week wages will be paid.
Simultaneously, Chelsea are seeking a striker of their own to reshape their attack. Tuchel has long been an admirer of Lewandowski, who has confirmed his intention to leave Bayern Munich, and believes he would thrive in the Premier League despite turning 34 in August. The Poland international has been heavily linked with a €40m move to Barcelona, with reports in Spain this week suggesting he has verbally agreed a deal but a lack of funds is holding things up.
Several rivals are looking to pounce on any uncertainty, with Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester United among the clubs linked with Lewandowski. Sources told ESPN that Tuchel has encouraged Chelsea to enter the running if there is any chance a deal can be done.

11.55 BST: Arsenal have had a €30m bid for Ajax defender Lisandro Martinez rejected, The Athletic reports.
Argentina international Martinez is the latest player in Arsenal's sights after signing attacking midfielder Fabio Vieira from Porto and young striker Marquinhos from Sao Paulo this week, while they are continuing their pursuit of Manchester City striker Gabriel Jesus.
Martinez, a left-sided centre-back, would add more options Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta's defence as well as some trophy-winning pedigree to his squad: the 24-year-old has won two Eredivisie titles at Ajax and was part of Argentina's Copa America-winning squad last summer.

11.09 BST: Tottenham Hotspur are set to make Djed Spence their fourth signing of the summer as newly-promoted Nottingham Forest have given up on their attempts to bring him in permanently, according to the Northern Echo.
Spence, 21, spent last season on loan at Forest and helped them return to the top flight for the first time since 1999 via the playoffs. However, with the wing-back's parent club Middlesbrough wanting a £20m fee for him, Forest have admitted defeat in their bid to bring him back to The City Ground.
That means Spurs, who have been long-standing interest in Spence, are now favourites to sign him and continue their summer rebuild as they prepare for next season's Champions League campaign.
The Londoners signed midfielder Yves Bissouma from Brighton on Friday, having already brought in winger Ivan Perisic and goalkeeper Fraser Forster earlier in the window.
10.23 BST: Mauricio Pochettino is the top target to take over at Athletic Club if Ricardo Barkala is elected as the club's new president later this month, sources told ESPN's Sam Marsden and Moises Llorens.
Barkala has already persuaded former Barcelona sporting director Ramon Planes to join his project, which he hopes would persuade Pochettino to accept the job. Planes and Pochettino previously worked together at Espanyol and Tottenham and remain close.
Sources told ESPN's Julien Laurens earlier this week that Pochettino will leave his role as Paris Saint-Germain coach after just 18 months in the job, which removes one hurdle for Barkala.
Athletic's members will vote in a new president on June 24, with Barkala one of three candidates running in the election. Jon Uriarte is the favourite. The third candidate is Inaki Arechabaleta, who reports suggest will look to bring in Marcelo Bielsa as coach if he is elected.
Former Athletic coach Marcelino left the club at the end of the season after leading them to eighth place in LaLiga, missing out on Europe on the final day of the campaign. He cited the uncertainty regarding his future due to the upcoming election as the reason for his departure.

09.39 BST: Barcelona have held 'positive talks' with Gavi's agent over a new contract but, according to Mundo Deportivo, the deal is not imminent.
Gavi, 17, is keen to remain at the Camp Nou beyond his current contract which expires in June 2023. The Spain midfielder's contract extension is a priority for Barca with club president Joan Laporta stating this week that "we obviously want Gavi to stay."
No agreement has been reached between the sides on the duration of the contract while the biggest hurdle remains the player's wages. Further talks are expected to take place later this month.
09.00 BST: Bayern Munich have reached an agreement to sign Sadio Mane from Liverpool and end his six-year spell at Anfield, sources have told ESPN.
The Senegal international's future at Liverpool had been in serious doubt since forward Darwin Nunez joined the Premier League side from Benfica in a club-record deal worth up to €100 million.
A person familiar with the situation said on Friday that Liverpool have agreed a fee with the Bundesliga champions in a total package worth €41 million ($42.9m).
The person spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to discuss details of the deal, which has not yet been completed.
Liverpool will receive €32m ($33.5m) up front for Mane, with a further €6m ($6.3m) due when he meets a specified appearance clause and an additional €3m ($3.15m) based on individual and team achievements.

- Marseille are potentially looking for a goalkeeper following uncertainty around Steve Mandanda's future, according to Foot Mercato. The 37-year-old is considering retirement this summer, though the Ligue 1 side are yet to be informed of his final decision, and they are keen to ensure they are not left searching for a replacement on short notice. Mandanda made 18 appearances for Marseille last season.
- Juventus will have to pay a fee of up to €20 million if they want to sign Filip Kostic, but they may opt to wait for the decision of Angel Di Maria, according to Calciomercato. Massimiliano Allegri's side are reported to be keen on landing a winger this summer, and the latest reports indicate that the 29-year-old Serbia international has made the Bianconeri his first choice.

The 24-year-old forward contributed to 16 goals in 33 Premier League appearances last season for the Hornets, and it could be possible to sign him for £20m after Watford were relegated. The move could depend on whether Tottenham Hotspur make an approach for Richarlison, having recently been linked with him.

The Santiago Bernabeu hierarchy are looking to move on the 24-year-old striker this summer, after he made just a single start in LaLiga last season. It is reported that he is open to moving to the Serie A club, though the Viola have requested that Real Madrid cover a proportion of his wages.
