LIVE Transfer Talk: Atletico Madrid's Griezmann, Real's Asensio, Chelsea's Pulisic on Juventus' wishlist

The summer transfer window is closed for the major leagues in Europe. However, with an eye on January, there's plenty of gossip swirling about who's moving where. Transfer Talk brings you all the latest buzz on rumours, comings, goings and, of course, done deals!

TOP STORY: Asensio, Griezmann, Pulisic on Juve's wishlist

Juventus have formed a three-man shortlist to bolster their attack in January, writes Gazzetta dello Sport.

The Bianconeri have regularly been linked with Chelsea's Christian Pulisic and now two LaLiga stars -- Atletico Madrid's Antoine Griezmann and Real Madrid's Marco Asensio -- are on the Serie A side's wishlist.

Like Pulisic, Griezmann and Asensio have faced struggles at their respective clubs and are looking to garner regular playing time. Griezmann, 31, has started once in LaLiga for Atletico, while the 26-year-old winger Asensio has played just 48 minutes across all competitions.

Griezmann is in the middle of a financial spat between Atletico and Barcelona, and is on a two-year loan deal. Barca believe that since Griezmann played over 45 minutes in 30 of the 37 games he was available for last season, Atletico are now obliged to sign him for €40m fee. Atletico, meanwhile, claim Griezmann must play over 45 minutes in 50% of the games he is selectable for over two seasons, not just one, for the clause to take effect.

Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri is keen to reinforce his side after Paulo Dybala and Dejan Kulusevski left earlier this year, and with Angel Di Maria out of contract in 2023, they have made progress in narrowing down potential options.

LIVE BLOG

21.30 BST: Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder Ruben Neves has become Barcelona's priority as they look to sign a replacement for Sergio Busquets ahead of next season, reports Sport. The Portugal international's contract ends in 2024 and Wolves are aware that they could have to let him leave to avoid doing so for free a year later. The Blaugrana have also held an interest in Martin Zubimendi, but Real Sociedad's harder stance makes it impossible for them to make a move.

20.57 BST: AC Milan could allow centre-back Matteo Gabbia and forward Marko Lazetic to go out on loan in January, according to Calciomercato. The former could join Sampdoria after a loan came close to materialising in the summer, while the latter has impressed in Milan's Primavera team but would need to be convinced to go out temporarily having turned down offers in the summer.

20.24 BST: While right-back Danilo is taking a relaxed approach, Juventus are keen to renew the Brazil international's contract quickly as it expires in 2024, reports Calciomercato. The Bianconeri have previously rejected an offer from Bayern Munich for the 31-year-old former Manchester City and may have to contend with potentially losing him on a free transfer in 18 months.

19.51 BST: Negotiations between Borussia Dortmund and forward Youssoufa Moukoko have stalled again, reports Sport Bild, with his current contract ending in the summer. The Bundesliga club are offering a long-term contract worth €4m a year, but the agent of the Germany youth international is demanding up to €6m in annual wages while asking for the 17-year-old to get more game time.

19.18 BST: Calciomercato reports that the future of Bodo/Glimt forward Ola Solbakken is still undecided with Napoli and AS Roma both in open negotiations with him. The 24-year-old Norway international will be available as a free agent when his contract expires in December.

18.45 BST: Napoli were linked with goalkeepers Kepa Arrizabalaga of Chelsea and Keylor Navas of Paris Saint-Germain during the summer, but Sky Sport Italia reports that Alex Meret has convinced the club that he is the man deserving of the No. 1 shirt. The twice-capped Italy international's contract was set to end in the summer, but an agreement in principle has been reached for that to be extended by another year with the option for 2024-25.

18.12 BST: Brest have agreed to terminate the contract of winger Youcef Belaili after the Algeria international made a request to sporting director Gregory Lorenzi.

"Youcef felt unwell on a daily basis, in particular being away from his family," Lorenzi said in the Ligue 1 club's announcement. "It was therefore difficult for him to continue on this path. For his daily balance and the good of the group, we have agreed to put an end to our collaboration. All the things that have been said in recent days about the player remain private matters that do not concern us or that do not need to be expanded on. The most important today is the sporting situation of Stade Brestois and the institution remains above his personal case, like that of any other player."

17.39 BST: Diogo Dalot wants to commit his future to Manchester United despite interest from Barcelona and Juventus, reports the Manchester Evening News. The 23-year-old Portugal right-back only has one year left on his contract with the Red Devils, but United have the option to extend that for another year.

17.06 BST: AS Monaco have confirmed that Chile international Guillermo Maripan has extended his contract until 2025. The 28-year-old centre-back joined the Principality in 2019 and has since gone on to make 100 appearances for the Ligue 1 side.

16.33 BST: Celtic signed midfielder Matt O'Riely for a £1.5m transfer fee from MK Dons in January, and the Scotsman reports that the Glasgow giants could demand 10 times that to sanction the 21-year-old Denmark youth international's departure. Newcastle United reportedly continue to scout the Fulham academy graduate, and Leicester City were credited with interest last summer.

16.00 BST: Aston Villa do not want to let goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez leave in January, according to Football Insider.

Martinez, 30, is on the radar of Man United as they look to replace David de Gea.

However, Villa would not consider any offers less than £45m, given the Argentina international only signed a new contract in January.

15.16 BST: Could Liverpool land Jude Bellingham?

14.28 BST: PSV forward Cody Gakpo has Manchester United, Southampton and Everton on his trail ahead of the January transfer window, says FootballTransfers.

Gakpo, 23, has scored 10 goals in 13 games in all competitions and was linked heavily with a move to United before they spent €95m to sign Anthony from Ajax.

PSV reportedly want around €60m for Gakpo and the Netherlands international will be looking to impress at the 2022 World Cup in November.

13.52 BST: Paul Pogba left Manchester United on a free transfer this summer to join Juventus, and has been speaking about the decision.

Pogba, 29, struggled towards the end of his career in Manchester -- having first left Old Trafford to join the Turin club for a nominal fee as a teenager in 2012 before returning for €105m in 2016.

"I like to think and say that it is my heart that made the choice. It was also perhaps the right time to come back here," he told GQ Italia. "The last three years in Manchester, also affected by injuries, have not gone as I wanted, it is no mystery. I thought that if we added to this the fact that Juve have also arrived for two years in which they did not win the Scudetto, it was a good challenge for both of us.

"And maybe it was the right time to meet again and try to take back the place that belongs to us, to me and to Juve. And above all to win again."

Pogba has yet to make his second debut for Juventus as he is injured.

13.07 BST: ICYMI -- Paris Saint-Germain president Nasser Al-Khelaifi said Barcelona's asset sales in the summer to fund signings were "not fair" and suggested UEFA would investigate their legality.

Barca sold stakes in their domestic television rights and Barca Studios, an in-house production company, for over €700 million to allow them to spend more than €150m on the arrivals of Robert Lewandowski, Raphinha and Jules Kounde. Five other players arrived as free agents.

"Is this fair? No, it's not fair. ... Is it legal? I'm not sure," Al-Khelaifi said in an interview with Politico published on Wednesday. "If they allow them, others will do the same. UEFA of course have their own [financial] regulations. For sure they're going to look at everything."

Barca were forced to sell off the assets to comply with LaLiga's strict regulations and register their new signings with the Spanish league.

12.11 BST: Marko Arnautovic's proposed move to Manchester United didn't fall through because of protests from their fans, Bologna director Marco Di Vaio has told Corriere Dello Sport.

Arnautovic was the subject of a transfer offer from United in the summer but the move went down badly with the supporters, and a second transfer offer for the 33-year-old was not submitted.

"We did great work with Marko. We've always highlighted how much we trust him," Di Vaio told Il Corriere Dello Sport. "United didn't pull out of the race because of their fans, but only because Arnautovic understood how important he was for Bologna's project. He behaved like a true champion, understanding what he meant to Bologna as a city and a club.

"He's a point of reference on and off the pitch. I was surprised by his involvement. He is helping young players. He has an 'English' approach. He always gives his all."

Arnautovic has enjoyed a superb start to the Serie A season, and is the league's top scorer with six goals in seven games.

11.25 BST: Calciomercato reports that Chelsea and Real Madrid have emerged as serious competitors for the signature of Milan Skriniar.

Skriniar, 27, is out of contract at the end of the season and has been strongly linked with Paris Saint-Germain, who were unable to agree a transfer in the summer window.

Inter Milan do not want the player to walk away on a free transfer next summer, so could be prepared to do a deal worth €20-25m.

That presents great value in the modern transfer market, and PSG might not be his destination in January.

10.39 BST: Fabrizio Romano reports that Chelsea have the chance to re-sign Tammy Abraham from AS Roma through a clause in the deal that took the striker to Italy.

Abraham, 24, moved to Rome in August 2021 in a £34m deal and has scored 19 goals in 44 Serie A appearances.

If Chelsea want to take the player back to Stamford Bridge they will have to pay double, with a £68m clause allowing the Blues to re-sign the England international.

09.50 BST: Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jude Bellingham is one of the names on everyone's lips when considering who the best young player in world football is. (He came 4th on ESPN's 39 U21 list from April.)

Still only 19, Bellingham has made his mark in the German Bundesliga over the past two years since he made a €30m transfer from Birmingham City in 2020. Now, Dortmund value his services at over €120m, but without a release clause in his contract (unlike Erling Haaland, who moved to Manchester City for €60m from Dortmund this summer), the sky is the limit for Bellingham.

Some of the top clubs in Europe have been scouting the England international, so which one needs him most? And which suits his style of play?

09.02 BST: Anthony Gordon has revealed he was "never desperate to leave Everton" after Chelsea tried to sign him before the summer transfer deadline.

Gordon, 21, was reportedly the subject of transfer offers worth up to £45m, which were rejected by Everton as they would only accept around £60m.

"Personally, I don't think any player is worth that amount of money but I'm also not going to talk myself down," Gordon said. "I wasn't too focused on that because I can only control what I can control.

"I think the minute you do that [thinking he is a £60m player], there's only one way you're going to go. You need to stay humble. You need to focus on today and tomorrow and don't look too far into the future.

"That's part and parcel of football. When you're doing well, there's always going to be that speculation. But because the place [Everton] is so good, it's not a place where I'm devastated because I have to stay. That's never been the case. I was never desperate to leave Everton. It was definitely not the case."

08.15 BST: The Daily Mail reports that Manchester City are planning to hold talks with Bernardo Silva to see where he feels his future lies.

The Portugal international has been linked with a move to Barcelona across the last few transfer windows but so far no deal has materialised.

The 28-year-old has a contract that runs until the summer of 2025 but a transfer offer in the region of £80m is likely to seal his departure.

Discussions will take place over the next few months to avoid another summer of speculation. City want the midfielder to make clear if he wants to remain in the Premier League or move to LaLiga.

PAPER GOSSIP

- Inter Milan and Juventus are discussing a potential swap deal involving defenders Stefan de Vrij and Juan Cuadrado, according to Calciomercato. De Vrij, 30, and Cuadrado, 34, are both out of contract in the summer, and the latest indicates that the clubs could start talks when the winter transfer window opens.

- After reports suggested Martin Zubimendi was set to be offered a new five-year contract by Real Sociedad, Sport writes that Barcelona could end their interest in the 23-year-old midfielder. The Catalans are continuing to search the market for an eventual replacement for Sergio Busquets, but with Zubimendi's new deal believed to include a €90m release clause, the Blaugrana may now need to look elsewhere.

- Talks over a new deal for Karim Benzema have reached the final stages, reports Nicolo Schira. The 34-year-old striker has been in talks with Real Madrid since his impressive campaign last season, with reports over the summer suggesting that they intend to sign him to a new contract until 2024. He has scored three LaLiga goals this season, despite being out injured for most of September.

- Real Madrid are yet to close the door on potentially signing Kylian Mbappe or Erling Haaland in the future, reports El Chiringuito TV. Haaland, 22, joined Manchester City for €60m from Borussia Dortmund in the summer, while 23-year-old Mbappe turned down a move in favour of signing a new contract with Paris Saint-Germain.

- Arsenal will make a third approach for Aston Villa star Douglas Luiz, according to the Sun. The Gunners made an attempt to sign the 24-year-old on deadline day earlier this month, but after Villa stood firm reports now suggest that Mikel Arteta still considers him as a priority signing as he looks to reinforce his midfield options.
