South American champions San Lorenzo are already known as the Saints, and now, their new stadium will have a heavenly name as well.
The Argentine club chose on Wednesday to name their new stadium after their most famous fan: Pope Francis.
Among other business, the executive committee met to discuss what to call the Copa Libertadores champions' new park, and when "Pope Francisco" was proposed, the board members quickly adopted it.

The new stadium will be built on land seized from the club during the 1976-1983 military dictatorship.
The pope has long followed San Lorenzo, one of the oldest teams in the Argentine Football Association. Some joke that the pope has been intervening, and the club has been getting some help from above.
Since he became pope in March 2013, San Lorenzo has won a local title as well as the Copa Libertadores for the first time in their history. Club officials have traveled twice to the Vatican carrying the trophies to thank the pope.
