Roma president James Pallotta fined for fountain leap after beating Barcelona

Roma president James Pallotta has quite literally paid the price for his wild celebrations after witnessing the Giallorossi's astonishing comeback win over Barcelona in the Champions League quarterfinals.

Pallotta joined the fans to celebrate on the streets after the match and was later filmed leaping into the fountain on Rome's Piazza del Popolo

Unfortunately, it's against the law to jump into said fountains, meaning that it wasn't long before the 60-year-old was forced to apologise to the city's mayor and pay a fine of €450 (approx £390).

"There was no point where I thought I shouldn't have done it," Pallotta told the BBC World Football Show.

"I have a history of going one step too far, going all the way back to college, so it didn't faze me at all."

Unprompted, the Roma boss also donated €230,000 (£199,196) to put towards the maintenance and restoration of the Fontana del Pantheon in the middle of Rome.

"I thought, 'why not start a thing called fix a fountain?' If you jump in one you have to buy or fix one," he added.

Sounds perfectly reasonable to us!
