Jackson Martinez releases album of religious, hip-hop inspired songs

There was a time when Colombian striker Jackson Martinez commanded two €35million-plus transfer fees in the space of six months.

Unfortunately, after scoring a deluge of goals in three seasons at Porto, various injuries conspired to hamper subsequent stints at both Atletico Madrid and Guangzhou Evergrande, with the goals and the appearances gradually slowing to a trickle.

Earlier this week, Martinez surprised many by agreeing to move back to Portugal, signing for Primeira Liga bottom club Portimonense on a season-long loan from Guangzhou.

Perhaps in celebration of his grand return, the 31-year-old forward has announced the release of his debut album -- a batch of seven religious, hip-hop inspired songs entitled "No Temere" ("I Will Not Fear").

The lead song is a spiritual club track called "Bendiceme" ("Bless Me").

Upon signing for Portimonense last week, Martinez thanked God for giving him the opportunity before vowing to show "maximum dedication and commitment" in his ongoing quest to recapture the form that saw him charged with leading the line for Colombia at the 2014 World Cup.

Who knows, maybe the singing will help?
