Toe Poke Daily: Belgium channel South Park with squad announcement

The Toe Poke Daily is here every day to bring you all the weirdest stories, quirkiest viral content and top trolling that the internet has to offer, all in one place.

Belgium channel South Park

This is absolutely outstanding from the Belgium FA -- using South Park to announce its squad for the 2019 European Under-21 Championship!

South Park first went to air in August 1997, chronicling the adventures of Stan Marsh, Kyle Broflovski, Eric Cartman and Kenny McCormick.

Nearly 22 years later, and Belgium have been inspired by the animations of Trey Parker and Matt Stone.

Half of the squad were not even born when Comedy Central premiered the show. In fact, highly rated attacking midfielder Yari Verschaeren of Anderlecht was not born until July 2001 (doesn't that make you feel old). Maybe midfielder Stephane Omeonga -- born five years before Verschaeren -- can give him some pointers.

The video is presented in the form of a press conference, with head coach Johan Walem also given the South Park treatment before all the squad members -- and the standby players -- trudge into the room as though they are residents of the fictional town.

It's two minutes and 14 seconds of genius.

Birmingham City looking Peaky

Championship club Birmingham City have been inspired by another TV show for their 2019-20 kit launch.

The Peaky Blinders, now immortalised by a drama, were an urban street gang based in Birmingham. The Blues players decided it's time to party like it's 1919 by dressing in the iconic period clothing.

Considering the club have suffered a period of economic upheaval, culminating with a nine-point deduction for financial fair play offences last season, it's probably quite fitting.
