Ronaldo makes ill young fan's dream come true

Picture this. Portugal had just completed Saturday's training session, ahead of Sunday's UEFA Nations League final against Netherlands (2:45 p.m. ET on ESPN), and their bus was about to make its merry way back to the team hotel.

Then, on the roadside, a young fan is stood there with a banner that reads: "Cristiano, give me a hug."

Cristiano Ronaldo wouldn't actually stop the bus though, would he? Yes he would!

It turned out to be a dream come true for little 11-year-old Eduardo Moreira, who has suffered with a form of Leukemia since he was a year old.

Ronaldo ushered the child onto the coach, gave him the hug he craved and posed for a picture. Brilliant.

Shaggy is Team Jamaica at Women's World Cup

Jamaica kick off their Women's World Cup campaign against Brazil on Sunday, the nation's first-ever appearance "In The Summertime" finals.

And before their big kick off they received words of support from Mr Lover Lover himself, Shaggy.

Arguably Jamaica's finest musical export, Shaggy got all "Boombastic," saying: "We've got to big up the Reggae Girlz because they are doing an exceptional job carrying the flag high and I'm definitely going to support the culture and the sport. Good luck to all y'all in France, in Paris, and I wish you all the best."

No doubt the Jamaica players will be shouting "It wasn't me" if a Brazil player goes down in the box! Unlike Shaggy, they'll certainly hope there isn't a Sting in the tale....

Barella takes out ball boy from point-blank range

Young Cagliari midfielder Nicolo Barella earned his sixth cap for Italy in Saturday's comfortable 3-0 win in Greece, but he will probably remember the game for one particular incident.

Barella burst into the box and looked to play a ball across goal, only for Sokratis Papastathopoulos to block the delivery.

But Barella was left frustrated when the ball rebounded back off him and went out for a goal kick, rather than a corner. The Italian's first instinct was to boot the ball further behind... but unfortunately for him he fired it straight into the face of a ball boy, who was knocked to the ground.

Barella was quick to race over to help him up and give a comforting hug.

Good shot, though.

Earthquakes keeper scores comedy own goal

Spare a thought for San Jose Earthquakes goalkeeper Daniel Vega.

Presented with a regulation backpass just 27 minutes into his side's home game against FC Dallas on Saturday, he somehow took his eye off the ball, and let it run through his legs before providing the crucial touch to send it trickling into the back of his own net for the opening goal.

That's quite some skill.

At least the Earthquakes did turn it around to lead, before having to settle for a 2-2 draw.
