CONCACAF keepers good to go

We've seen numerous players raise their club-level stock with impressive performances at the World Cup -- James Rodriguez, Divock Origi and Juan Cuadrado come to mind. But two goalkeepers in particular really made their case in Brazil.

Mexico keeper Guillermo Ochoa first got on the radar with his clean sheet and amazing saves versus host nation Brazil in the group stage. His strong play continued against Netherlands in the round of 16, even though his El Tri side were eliminated by the Dutch. Ochoa now says in a MediaTiempo.com report that he'll reveal his club fate -- he's currently a free agent, as his contract with Ligue 1 side Ajaccio expired last month -- in a little more than a fortnight.

"Everything depends on the team and what they present," said Ochoa, who noted he has interest from a number of clubs in Europe. "But where I go, I will go confident, happy and, of course, with the intention of playing."

Kaylor Navas of Costa Rica also looks set to take his show on the road from La Liga side Levante, where he allowed just 43 goals in 37 matches on his way to the goalkeeper of the year award. A recent kicker report says Bayern Munich are interested in Navas' services as a backup for No. 1 Manuel Neuer, as we mentioned yesterday. AS.com has a report with some specifics, including a rumoured 36.7 million-pound transfer fee, a four-year deal for Sanchez and incentives that could earn the Chilean striker as much as 3 million extra pounds next season. It seems Arsene Wenger might win over his counterparts at Juventus and AC Milan, who were also said to fancy Sanchez's services.

QPR might say au revoir to Remy

Speaking of Wenger (he's had a busy summer in the Transfer Talk pages), the Daily Mirror is reporting that the Arsenal boss is this close to bringing countryman Loic Remy to the Emirates from Queens Park Rangers. Remy netted 14 Premier League goals for Newcastle during his season-long loan from QPR, and he featured as a substitute for Les Bleus during their quarterfinal run in Brazil. The move would set Arsenal back a reported 8 million pounds.

Shaqiri shocker

Switzerland's Xherdan Shaqiri raised his flag as a catalyst for everything his team did in their quarterfinal run at the World Cup. The Bayern Munich midfielder looked electric in Brazil and scored one of the tournament's most cracking of goals against Honduras. Now GianlucaDiMarzio.com has joined the chorus of voices reporting that Roma have jumped in the mix, alongside Liverpool, to lure Shaqiri from Bavaria. Pep Guardiola's club have put a 20 million euro price tag on any potential move.
