David De Gea to finally get Real Madrid move in £29 million transfer?

As always, Transfer Talk has its finger on the pulse when it comes to the latest rumours and gossip. See all the latest deals here.

TOP STORY: De Gea finally gets his move to Real Madrid

After months of speculation, Manchester United's David De Gea appears set to move to Real Madrid in a £29 million blockbuster deal just three days before Tuesday's transfer deadline, according to the Independent. There has been plenty of posturing from both clubs over the Red Devils' No. 1, but after the Spaniard's uninspired performance for United in a preseason friendly, his last appearance for the side, the writing was on the wall.

Despite De Gea missing United's opening three matches, his fill-in at goal, Sergio Romero, has done well with three clean sheets to start the season, but that doesn't mean that manager Louis van Gaal won't be searching for another goalkeeper. The Independent also reports that the manager has identified Ajax's Jasper Cillessen as a potential replacement.

14.58 BST: A bit more on Nikica Jelavic: West Ham United have made a bid for the Hull City striker, sources have told ESPN FC.

The Hammers have been scouring the transfer market for a new striker, and have turned their attentions to Jelavic.

Hull are resigned to losing Jelavic following their relegation to the Championship, and the Croatian was left out of the side for Saturday's 2-0 win over Preston.

After the game, Hull boss Steve Bruce said: "We had a bid late last night. Actually, two clubs have shown their hand and with that going on I didn't think it was right [to play him]. At the end of the day, if he goes I've got to go with the players that are going to be here."

14.47 BST: Tottenham have already been linked with Southampton's Victor Wanyama -- and now they are being linked with Barcelona midfielder Alex Song, who spent last season on loan at West Ham, too. 13.45 BST: Schalke have denied that Julian Draxler is set to join Wolfsburg but suggested they have received bids for the Germany international from both Die Wolfe and Juventus.

La Gazzetta dello Sport reported on Saturday that Juve were close to agreeing a deal in the region of €25 million up front for Draxler after long negotiations that saw Schalke end discussions with the Italian club earlier in the summer.

However, it was later reported that Wolfsburg -- looking to replace Manchester City-bound midfielder Kevin De Bruyne -- had moved ahead in the race to sign the 21-year-old.

12.12 BST: Bayer Leverkusen director of sport Rudi Voller has said Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg would have preferred to join his club rather than Schalke, but Bayern Munich vetoed the move.

The Danish midfielder joined Schalke on loan until the end of the season after a move to Leverkusen fell through.

Voller told ZDF television it had been Bayern's decision to send the player to Gelsenkirchen, against his own preference.

11.44 BST: Reported Tottenham Hotspur target Alexandre Pato has said he wants to stay at Sao Paulo, but acknowledged that may not be his decision to make.

Corinthians forward Pato has been on loan at Sao Paulo since last year but his parent club's chairman, Roberto de Andrade, said earlier this summer that he was eager to cash in on the 25-year-old.

Earlier this month, sources told ESPN FC that Corinthians are ready to sell Pato for €10 million (£7.2m) and the former AC Milan star was keen on a move to the Premier League.

10.45 BST: Everyone seems to be saying that Arsenal need a striker -- and Spanish outlet Fichajes says that striker could be PSG's Edinson Cavani, tipping the Gunners to make a bid for him before the window closes.

10.39 BST: But if not United for Dante, then who? Leicester, the Sunday People suggests, with the Foxes reported to be willing to pay £5 million for the Brazilian.

10.15 BST: West Ham manager Slaven Bilic could move for his countryman Nikica Jelavic as he looks to boost the Hammers' striking options. He could move for Hull's Jelavic, 30, for around £3 million, the Daily Mail says.

I am delighted with the three goalkeepers and I just want to enjoy this 5-0 win. I am happy with all of the players I have -- very happy."

He's told you nothing there, really, has he?

PAPER ROUND:

Chelsea move on from Stones and Abdennour, focus on Garay

Chelsea are scrambling for options at centre-back after facing a struggle to acquire their top two targets. After seeing a bid near £40m for their No. 1 target, Everton's John Stones, get rejected, they tried to seal a move for AS Monaco's Aymen Abdennour but missed out on the 26-year-old defender when Valencia outbid the English champions to wrap up the transfer.

Chelsea valued Abdennour at £15m but Valencia, of all teams, swooped up and got their man in a £22m bid according to the Daily Mail. The outlet also reports that the centre-back's preference was to move to England, but he is instead the replacement for the departed Nicholas Otamendi, who joined Manchester City last week.

So now, according to the Telegraph, they will focus on signing Ezequiel Garay from Zenit -- as we reported they would last week.

Lewandowski is Van Gaal's dream striker

In July, Van Gaal mentioned that he wanted a "dream striker" to ease the pressure off of lead forward Wayne Rooney in Manchester United's attack. After those comments, speculation went wild with Edinson Cavani, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Thomas Muller all being linked with a mega-money move to Manchester, but was the Dutchman thinking of another player from Bayern Munich?

According to Mark Odgen from the Telegraph in an interview with Sirius Radio, Van Gaal's actual top target is Polish international and former Dortmund superstar Robert Lewandowski, who has been inconsistent since joining Bayern Munich last season.

With Lewandowski failing to make an impression on Bayern Munich manager Pep Guardiola, this move might make the most sense for all parties involved.

Arsenal chasing Mahrez?

Arsenal have needs at striker, defensive midfielder and one can even make a case for needing some backup at centre-back, but of course Arsene Wenger is in the market for yet another attacking midfielder.

In a rumour by Daily Star that seems so odd that it might actually make sense considering Arsenal's moves in the past, Wenger is working to bring in Leicester's early season sensation Riyad Mahrez. The Algerian has four goals in four games for the Foxes and has been linked with a £5m move to Roma and Villarreal despite Leicester insisting that he's not for sale.

If the Gunners double the current valuation of the winger, he may be turning out for the team at the Emirates, but the question that will remain is where will he fit?

Draxler to be De Bruyne's replacement at Wolfsburg?

In another transfer saga that seems to have dragged on all summer, Schalke's Julian Draxler may have more suitors to facilitate his desired exit from Gelsenkirchen as Wolfsburg have joined the race to sign the 21-year-old.

What makes this latest turn of events seemingly insane is that earlier on Saturday, several reports had claimed that the German winger would be on his way to Juventus in a €26m move paid over two years plus €6m in performance-related bonuses. But now it looks like Draxler may be staying in Germany after Wolfsburg matched the offer by Juventus as the Volkswagen-owned club has been buoyed by their reported €70m sale of Kevin De Bruyne to Manchester City. There are also some reports that suggest that Schalke may take him off the market entirely.

Juventus' transfer plans would take a major blow if they fail to acquire Draxler, but they are eyeing Axel Witsel in a €30m move as an alternative based on reports by Sky Italia.

Tap-Ins

- If AC Milan's loan move to bring back Mario Balotelli appears odd, club vice president Adriano Galliani's latest comments may shed further light on the decision. He conceded defeat in the club's pursuit of PSG's Zlatan Ibrahimovic on Saturday, telling TuttoMercatoWeb, "That chapter is closed, he will stay in Paris."

AC Milan tried to acquire Ibrahimovic all summer but PSG refused to let go of their star Swede.

- Tottenham have apparently moved on from Saido Berahino and are in talks to acquire Alexandre Pato according to the Express.
