Transfer Talk: Arsenal to re-sign Jack Wilshere amid Milan, Everton interest

Clubs are slowly turning their eyes toward the summer window. Transfer Talk has updates on all the latest rumours.

Gunners step up efforts to keep Wilshere

Arsenal have upped the ante in their attempts to persuade midfielder Jack Wilshere not to leave, according to the Mirror.

It says the Gunners have made Wilshere, out of contract in the summer, "an improved offer in a desperate attempt to get him to stay."

Although manager Arsene Wenger is leaving at the end of the season after 21 years in charge, Arsenal want to avoid any uncertainty over Wilshere's future and "have made a new offer in a bid to reach agreement."

The Mirror says the proposal would see the England international paid "in excess of £100,000 a week," and he is understood to prefer the option of staying to work under whoever the next boss turns out to be.

Championship winners Wolves have emerged as contenders to sign Wilshere as they prepare for life back in the Premier League, while there also is reported interest from Everton, Juventus and AC Milan.

But the Mirror says Arsenal "have not given up hope" and "know it would be a hugely unpopular move to let him go for free."

Can closing in on Juventus switch

It seems the long-running saga of whether or not Liverpool midfielder Emre Can will join Juventus is about to come to an end.

The Mail, citing reports in Italy, says Can "has agreed a five-year contract with Juve" and a deal for the Germany international could be announced later in the week.

Can is out of contract at Anfield at the end of the season, with talks over new terms having stalled, and "appears to be closing in on a move to Italy."

He could earn more than £5 million per season with the Serie A giants, who had faced competition for his signature from both Bayern Munich and Manchester City.

City join Liverpool in Maddison chase

Manchester City have joined Liverpool in the race for Norwich midfielder James Maddison, with the Canaries "set to cash in," according to the Mirror.

England Under-21 midfielder Maddison, who has scored 15 goals this season, is rated at £30m by the Championship club.

Both City and Liverpool are ready to pay that amount for Norwich's Player of the Year, with Tottenham Hotspur said to be another interested party.

The Canaries also could lose winger Josh Murphy, with Swansea, Leicester and Crystal Palace all keen and the Mirror reporting that Murphy "is open to a move to the Premier League."

Tap-ins

-- Teenage Manchester City winger Javairo Dilrosun is having talks with Bundesliga club Hertha Berlin and will join them in the window, according to the Mail.

It reports that the Netherlands Under-20 international, who also had interested both Swansea and Championship playoff hopefuls Derby, has opted for Hertha after turning down a new City contract.

-- Rangers right-back James Tavernier is a target for Everton, Burnley and Swansea, the Scotsman reports.

The 26-year-old former Newcastle and Wigan player, who has scored 25 goals for Rangers, was linked with Sunderland and Reading during the winter but decided to stay at Ibrox.
