LIVE Transfer Talk: Tottenham try to beat Liverpool to West Ham's Declan Rice

The transfer window for Europe's biggest clubs is closed, but click here for all the deals and keep track of who has joined the big boys. And Transfer Talk will continue to scour the world's media and set correspondents loose to see what's on the agenda for the summer.

TOP STORY: Tottenham plan cross-London raid on Rice

Tottenham are planning a £35 million move to sign West Ham United star Declan Rice, reports the Daily Express, but they might have to battle Premier League rivals Liverpool for his signature.

Mauricio Pochettino is allegedly planning for life without Christian Eriksen next season, and Hammers star Rice could be the perfect replacement. Eriksen's contract runs out in 17 months, and with Real Madrid among the many clubs alleged to be keen on the Denmark star, Pochettino feels Rice could help fill the void.

Rice has been in impressive form this season, and despite signing a five-and-a-half-year deal in December, Spurs feel the lure of Champions League football, and a new stadium, could be enough to tempt the 20-year-old away from West Ham if Liverpool don't steal a march on the London club's plans.

LIVE BLOG

20.20 GMT: Calciomercato also report that Napoli have set up a meeting with Hirving Lozano's agent Minco Raiola. The PSV star and Mexico international is also on Barcelona's and Arsenal's radar, with the transfer fee auction somewhere between €30-45m.

17.04 GMT: A report in Calciomercato.it suggests Juventus are opening to the idea of selling Douglas Costa, with Manchester United and Chelsea keen.

15.59 GMT: Manchester United target Milan Skriniar has signed a contract extension to 2023 at Inter Milan, according to Il Corriere dello Sport.

The report adds he has almost double his annual salary, as it will jump from €1.7m-per-year to €3m.

15.00 GMT: The agent of Wolsfburg goalkeeper Koen Casteels has confirmed in an interview with kicker that a host of top European sides interested in signing his client.

"We know that some clubs are watching him closely," Nico Vaesen said.

On the back of this interview, Mundo Deportivo believe Barcelona are among those sides following an injury to Jasper Cillessen.

13.57 GMT: A report in The Mirror suggests Championship side West Brom will offer manager Darren Moore a new three-year contract.

13.01 GMT: As well as Cengiz Under, Roma are looking to tie down another of their hot young prospects as well as two of their elder statesmen to new deals, according to Calciomercato.

The Giallorossi want to extend the contracts of Nicolo Zaniolo, 19, and Under, 21, with both drawing interest from some of Europe's biggest sides. While they are also keen to tie down Edin Dzeko, 32, and Daniele de Rossi, 35.

11.59 GMT: Sticking with Barcelona, Philippe Coutinho hasn't impressed since his £142m move from Liverpool and Marca report that the club are finally open to offers for the midfielder.

But, as the report states: "The main issue with Coutinho is that because Barcelona bought him for such a large amount, they would want to recover most of that fee, something that would be difficult to do at this present moment."

11.23 GMT: Barcelona are looking for a new left-back as Jordi Alba is getting older and the club don't really have much competition for him right now anyway.

Mundo Deportivo have nicely listed all three options. Lyon's Ferland Mendy is the No. 1 target of sporting director Eric Abidal and, at 23, has plenty of time to grow. Even younger, Junior Firpo (at 22) would cost €50m from Real Betis. And at the other end of the spectrum: Atletico's Filipe Luis is 33, available on a free in the summer, and would accept playing as a backup in the final years of his career.

10.55 GMT: Calciomercato also claim that Isco will demand to be sold if Real Madrid stick with manager Santi Solari.

If he does, then Juventus and Manchester City are the two clubs at the front of the queue and the Italian club are reportedly already making plans in case they have to move quickly for the midfielder.

10.21 GMT: Cengiz Under is a man in demand. The Roma winger has been tracked by Bayern, Tottenham and Arsenal -- with sources telling ESPN FC that Man United are also keen -- but is now set to be offered triple his salary to sign a new contract, according to Calciomercato.

10.06 GMT: ICYMI - Manchester United do not need "superstar" signings in the summer to become title challengers, according to caretaker manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

The Norwegian is planning for next season despite being in the dark about whether he will be in charge. nFollowing an upturn in form since he took over, United are still 14 points behind table-toppers Manchester City and Liverpool, but Solskjaer has suggested he would not need to splash the cash to make up the ground.

"I think it is about who we've got here," Solskjaer told a news conference on Friday. "It is not about signing 'X' amount of players, it has to be the right one and one who fits, the personality has to fit with the team.

"It is not just buy a superstar and that will fix things and suddenly we go from challenging to being top four and be champions."

09.34 GMT: Norwich defender Ben Godfrey has been attracting the attention of Man United (and Arsenal too) and is rated at £10m, say the Daily Mirror.

Lyon and RB Leipzig are also in the hunt for the 21-year-old centre-back while "all four clubs will have scouts at Carrow Road to run the rule over Godfrey" for the derby against Ipswich this weekend.

09.00 GMT: Lyon midfielder Tanguy Ndombele is one of the hottest young stars around and now Le10 Sport say that Manchester United have joined rivals City in the race for his signature.

Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas has valued Ndombele at €80m, so he won't come cheap for whoever manages to land him.

PAPER TALK (by Nick Judd)

Eriksen bound for Barca or Madrid?

Speaking of Eriksen, his refusal to sign a new contract this season has fuelled speculation about his future, and yet while many reports suggest Real Madrid are the likely suitors, journalist Ian McGarry says Barcelona could swoop in for the talented Dane instead.

Barcelona apparently already have made contact with Eriksen's representatives and are rumoured to have offered him double the money he's earning at Spurs.

Eriksen is approaching the final year of his contract, and Spurs chairman Daniel Levy may feel now is the right time to cash in on the 26-year-old, particularly as boss Pochettino has identified a list of potential replacements, including the aforementioned Rice and Adrien Rabiot.

Hamsik left out of squad as switch moves closer

Napoli star Marek Hamsik has been left out of the squad to face Fiorentina this weekend amid reports his move to Chinese club Dalian Yifang nears completion.

Hamsik has been linked with a move to the Chinese Super League outfit all week, but Napoli postponed the transfer over an issue related to the payments of the proposed €20 million deal.

However, Calcio Mercato is reporting that any outstanding issues between the two clubs have now been smoothed over and that Hamsik has travelled to Madrid for a medical.

Should Hamsik depart the Italian giants, it will bring to an end to his 12-year sojourn with the club, who are second in Serie A behind Juventus.

Gunners eye in-demand left-back

Reports have suggested that Arsenal boss Unai Emery will have a small war chest to play with in the transfer market this summer, and Mundo Deportivo said that the Gunners will use some of that money to sign Benfica left-back Alejandro Grimaldo.

Grimaldo is considered one of the most talented full-backs on the continent, and with Arsenal enduring a torrid campaign of injuries to their back line this season, the 23-year-old could be a welcome addition.

Manchester City also have been linked with Grimaldi, who was a graduate of Barcelona's fabled La Masia youth academy. Composed on the ball and with good technical ability, Grimaldi seems a perfect fit for the North London club.

He also likes to attack, and he has even been deployed in a wide midfield position at times this season, which sits well with Emery's attacking philosophy while playing out from the back.

Tap-ins

- Chelsea and Manchester United could be locked in a battle to sign Douglas Costa this summer, says The Daily Star. Costa was a target for Jose Mourinho, but it looks like United could finally make a move for the tricky winger at the end of the season.

- Liverpool and Chelsea are to battle it out for the signature of Brescia's 18-year-old Sandro Tonali this summer. Chelsea have been heavily linked with the youngster, but they could face a hefty fee if Brescia win promotion to Serie A, suggests Inside Futbal.

- It has been widely accepted that Eden Hazard is on the move this summer, but recent comments in The Times made by the Belgian about boss Maurizio Sarri along with new signing Gonzalo Higuain could lead supporters to believe he could actually stay -- news that would delight worried Chelsea fans.
