Brazil call Sevilla's Mariano to replace Dani Alves against Paraguay

Sevilla right-back Mariano will replace Dani Alves in the Brazil squad for their World Cup qualifier against Paraguay on Tuesday.

Alves received his second yellow card in Brazil's 4-1 defeat of Uruguay on Thursday and is suspended for the match against the Paraguayans.

Mariano, who's had a breakout season with Jorge Sampaoli's side, will join the team in Sao Paulo on Saturday.

The 30-year-old had been included on manager Tite's preliminary list of players for the qualifiers. He has never been capped for his country.

In 36 games for Sevilla this season, Mariano has contributed three assists for La Liga's third-placed side.
