Neymar 'cursed me a lot' in Brazil's World Cup win against Costa Rica - Thiago Silva

Thiago Silva revealed that Neymar "cursed" at him a lot late in the game during Brazil's 2-0 win against Costa Rica at the World Cup on Friday.

Neymar and Philippe Coutinho both scored second-half stoppage-time goals to give the Selecao their first win of the tournament in Russia, but before that, Silva says his Paris Saint-Germain teammate had harsh words for him after he kicked the ball back to Costa Rica in the 83rd minute.

The incident happened as Costa Rica appeared to be wasting time in an effort to see the match out -- then deadlocked at 0-0 despite Brazil's dominance -- to steal a point.

After the referee stopped play to attend to a Costa Rica player, Thiago Silva sportingly kicked the ball back to Brazil'a opponents. Many Brazil fans booed the team captain for his action.

"I have him as a younger brother, and I try to look after him, giving him advice," said Silva. "Today I was really sad with him. When I gave the ball back, he cursed me a lot.

"But I think he was right, because I think they were slowing up the game. I gave the ball back because it wasn't going to be that ball that would make us win. I feel relaxed for what what I did and was very sad with his cursing."

However, the late goals put Brazil back atop Group E on goal difference, with Silva explaining the emotion Neymar showed after the match.

"It's normal that Neymar needs to let off steam," the defender said."He carried a heavy weight.

"He'll now be a lot more relaxed for the third game."

Brazil play Serbia in their final group-stage game knowing a win will see them through in first place ahead of the round of 16.
