Luke Shaw deal finally done?
Southampton and England national team player Luke Shaw is once again on the radar for a move to Manchester United and this time it may be a done deal. Multiple outlets are reporting that Shaw has agreed in principle to a 160,000-pounds-a-week deal at Old Trafford after United lodged a 27-million-pound offer for the Saints' defender.
It's no secret that Shaw wanted to leave Southampton for an opportunity with a bigger team, but his final destination has remained uncertain. Chelsea had made some advances but Jose Mourinho was reportedly scared off by the price tag. The entire deal -- which includes a five-year-contract for Shaw -- could set United back close to 40 million pounds.
Currently, Saints are looking for a new manager after Mauricio Pochettino jumped ship for Tottenham and are rumoured to be blocking all player moves until a new boss is in place. Hence the long delays on a deal for Shaw and fellow Southampton revelation Adam Lallana, who is supposedly headed to join Brendan Rodgers in Liverpool.
Lahm, Mueller staying at Bayern
Rumours have been swirling for some time now about the imminent departure of German sensations Phillip Lahm and Thomas Mueller. But a recent Bild report says that the two have both extended their working papers to remain in the country -- Mueller until 2019 and Lahm until 2018.
The timing could be significant for Joachim Loew and the German national team as well, because now these two players can focus all of their energy on the World Cup and set any possible transfer-related distractions aside.
Fabregas Mou-ving to Chelsea
We've had Cesc Fabregas moving just about everywhere in the Premier League since it became apparent that he might not be in Barcelona's plans for next season's La Liga campaign. The latest report in the Daily Mail says Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho will bring Fabregas in to replace Frank Lampard at Stamford Bridge in a goal-scoring midfield role.
Mourinho seems hopeful that the Spaniard will pair well with another of his countrymen also rumoured to be going to Chelsea, Diego Costa. The rumoured Fabregas move could be done before he steps on the field for Spain's World Cup opener against Louis van Gaal and the Netherlands on June 13.
Vela confirmed to Arsenal
Real Sociedad president Jokin Aperribay was recently quoted in Spanish radio saying, "Arsenal have informed us that Vela would be with the team next season." That quote seems to confirm rumors that the Gunners are set to activate a buy-back clause to bring Carlos Vela back to the team he played for from 2008-2010.
Vela is coming off a great season with Sociedad where he scored 16 goals in 34 games making him a buy-back bargain for the Gunners at 3.5 million pounds. The Mexican national, who is not on his country's World Cup team, would be a nice addition to the attack at Emirates.
Hazard: I'm staying at Chelsea
Despite persistent rumours of a move to Paris Saint-Germain and a well-documented falling out with Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho, Eden Hazard says he's confident he'll be at Stamford Bridge next season.
The Belgian will feature prominently for his squad at this year's World Cup and could dramatically improve his value in the process.
Bryson not down with Derby
After beating them in the Championship playoff final at Wembley lin May, Queens Park Rangers seem intent on raiding Derby's coffers to bring midfielder Craig Bryson along with them to the Premier League next season. The 27-year-old Scot knocked in 16 goals in 40 Championship games last season. According to The Mirror, Bryson is eager to play in the Premier League next season and Harry Redknapp is ready to pay the 750,000-pound fee to bring him to QPR.
