Youngsters Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial key latest Man United comeback

Manchester United needed another late fightback to beat Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium.

Marcus Rashford, on as a second-half substitute, was the hero with a goal deep into stoppage time to turn what would have been another disappointing day on its head.

Callum Wilson got Bournemouth's goal after 11 minutes before it was cancelled out by Anthony Martial's fifth goal in as many games.

United were lucky to go in at half-time at 1-1 after gifting Bournemouth enough chance to win the game in a dire first half but the comeback after the break was capped by Rashford when he fired in from close range three days after his 21st birthday.

Positives

Anthony Martial is in a fantastic run of form. Jose Mourinho said at his pre-match news conference that the Frenchman is close to turning from "top talent" to "top player" and scoring in four straight league games are numbers that top players should be putting up. Heading into two tough away games against Juventus and Manchester City, he is United's star man.

Negatives

The opening 10 minutes were shambolic. Bournemouth had three clear chance before Wilson finally put the hosts in front. They could have been out of sight before United had even got off the coach had it not been for some poor finishing and David De Gea. It was the sixth time United have gone behind in the Premier League already this season and although it led to stirring comebacks against Newcastle, Chelsea and now Bournemouth in particular, it is not sustainable.

Manager rating out of 10

-- With Romelu Lukaku ruled out after picking up an injury in training on Friday, Mourinho's key decision was to start Sanchez at centre-forward in place of Marcus Rashford. The Chilean made Martial's equaliser with a fantastic cut-back across the penalty area but the fact Mourinho decided he wanted Rashford as his striker after just 56 minutes suggested he thought playing Sanchez through the middle had not worked. Can't argue with his substitutions.

Player ratings (1-10; 10 = best. Players introduced after 70 minutes get no rating)

GK David De Gea, 7 -- Made a good save with his feet to stop Ryan Fraser from putting Bournemouth ahead inside five minutes. Dealt well with the hosts' early onslaught.

DF Ashley Young, 7 -- Positive run forward and pass to Sanchez led to United's equaliser and hit the crossbar with a fantastic free kick in the second half.

DF Luke Shaw 7 -- Blocked a Junior Stanislas shot early on that looked like it was going in and did enough to get the better of David Brooks when he was about to make it 2-0.

DF Victor Lindelof, 5 -- Decision to leave a looping ball over United's defence led to an early chance for Wilson. Struggled to cope with Wilson's pace, movement and quick feet and never looked comfortable.

DF Chris Smalling, 5 -- Fortunate his mistake trying to cut out Wilson's cross to Fraser didn't lead to an early Bournemouth goal but lost the striker in the box when Wilson finally found the net.

MF Nemanja Matic, 6 -- Left on his own too often in midfield and was left chasing shadows when Bournemouth were at their best in the first half.

MF Paul Pogba, 7 -- Another game that featured the odd lovely pass and a few too many mistakes. Like United, got better after half-time and it was his skill that created the injury-time winner for Rashford.

MF Fred, 5 -- Started brightly with a couple of driving runs from midfield but he should of equalised in the first half when Martial put a chance on a plate for him. Gave the ball away too much and did himself no favours with his play-acting in the first half. Hooked early.

FW Juan Mata, 5 -- The Spaniard has been at his best this season when he's played as the No. 10 but back out on the right against Bournemouth he struggled to get into the game. Taken off early in the second half.

FW Anthony Martial, 6 -- Got caught watching as Bournemouth's opener came down his side. Made up for it with the equaliser to score in a fourth straight Premier League game for the first time. United's man in form.

FW Alexis Sanchez, 6 -- Starting a Premier League game for the first time in more than a month, he was preferred to Rashford as the central striker in Lukaku's absence. He was having a nightmare before he brilliantly picked out Martial to score.

Substitutes

MF Ander Herrera, 6 -- Added energy in midfield.

FW Marcus Rashford, 7 -- Should have scored twice but one was enough.

FW Jesse Lingard, N/R -- Had one late chance.
