PARIS -- Paris Saint-Germain ended a disappointing season with a turgid 1-1 draw against Caen in Ligue 1 on Saturday. Adrien Rabiot scored for Unai Emery's men, but Ronny Rodelin spoiled Maxwell's Parc des Princes farewell with a late equaliser, which kept the visitors in le Championnat.
It was such a dire match that there were no real positives to take from it. Until he conceded the penalty, Presnel Kimpembe was en route for a special mention, and Kevin Trapp perhaps deserves one for denying Rodelin from the spot. However, it was a dreadful way to end a disappointing season.
Laziness. The performance from the entire team was flat and uninspired. It felt every bit an end-of-campaign game with nothing for Les Parisiens to play for.
Maxwell's muted farewell. It was supposed to be a celebration of the veteran Brazilian's PSG career, but it felt like a rushed goodbye instead. The classy 35-year-old deserved better.
Manager rating out of 10
4 -- It was an unimaginative starting XI from the Spaniard and his substitutions were not much better.
Player ratings (1-10; 10 = best. Players introduced after 70 minutes get no rating)
GK Kevin Trapp, 7 -- The German goalkeeper made a few good saves, notably his stop to deny Rodelin from the penalty spot.
DF Serge Aurier, 5 -- The Ivory Coast international missed a good chance to score in the first half, was suspect defensively and did not offer that much going forward with his inconsistent crossing.
DF Marquinhos, 6 -- More or less solid, the Brazil international and central defensive partner Presnel Kimpembe struggled a bit more toward the end of the match.
DF Presnel Kimpembe, 6 -- Up until he conceded the penalty 15 minutes from time, it had been an impressive showing from the France international. However, he undid a lot of that hard work with his unnecessary foul.
DF Maxwell , 5 -- Although he was not poor, it was not a great final Parc des Princes outing for the seasoned Brazilian. The captain for the night made a few sloppy errors and contributed little going forward.
MF Thiago Motta, 6 -- The veteran Italian remains vital to PSG's ability to keep the ball away from their opponents, but he did little else constructive with the ball and was replaced by Blaise Matuidi with 18 minutes to go.
MF Adrien Rabiot, 6 -- The France international scored, but Caen really could have prevented his strike. Otherwise he was solid but not outstanding.
MF Giovani Lo Celso, 5 -- Starting for the first time in Ligue 1, the Argentine worked hard but made a few too many mistakes. He will learn with time. Lo Celso did test Remy Vercoutre with a shot from distance early on, but it was unsurprising that Javier Pastore replaced him on the hour mark.
FW Lucas Moura, 4 -- The Brazilian utilised his speed on occasions but did nothing constructive with it and was replaced by Julian Draxler with 12 minutes to go.
FW Edinson Cavani, 5 -- The Uruguay international provided the assist for Rabiot's goal but was denied his own by some good Syam Ben Youssef defending in the second half. Otherwise, he suffered from a lethargic showing from the rest of his teammates.
FW Angel Di Maria, 5 -- The Argentina international was not really that involved, and when he did get on the ball, he did not do much with it.
MF Javier Pastore, 6 -- The Argentina international replaced compatriot Lo Celso on the hour but was unable to inspire the hosts to add to their advantage, even if he clearly added to their creativity.
MF Blaise Matuidi, NR -- The France international was energetic once introduced in place of Motta but nothing more than that.
FW Julian Draxler, NR -- Given 12 minutes at the end in place of Lucas Moura, the Germany international made more of an impression than the Brazilian did in his 78 minutes on the pitch.
