Toulouse, Lorient, Lille and Nice register Coupe de la Ligue wins

Toulouse's miserable season took a turn for the better on Wednesday night as they reached the fourth round of the Coupe de la Ligue thanks to a penalty shootout victory against Ligue 2 side Auxerre.

Le Tefece were without a win since their opening-day Ligue 1 triumph against St Etienne but Dominique Arribage's side equalised three times at the Stadium Municipal to cancel out Auxerre goals from Samed Kilic, Sonhy Sefil and Gaetan Courtet.

A second-half brace from Toulouse striker Wissam Ben Yedder forced extra time -- after Auxerre lost Brahim Konate to a late red card -- before Yann Bodiger's score ensured the match went to penalties.

Ben Yedder and Martin Braithwaite nervelessly converted from the spot to earn Toulouse victory after Mouhamadou Diaw, Courtet, Cedric Hountondji and Sefil could not for Auxerre

Nantes' three-game winning run came to an end in disappointing fashion as they lost 3-2 at Ligue 2 side Bourg-en-Bresse, for whom Lakdar Boussaha twice scored from the spot.

Nantes were 2-1 ahead with almost an hour gone thanks to Adyran's brace but Boussaha's first penalty, after Koffi Djidji's sending-off, saw the hosts draw level before he once again converted from 12 yards to send his side through.

Lorient moved into the next round with a 3-2 victory against Ligue 1 rivals Montpellier. Victory was secured thanks to first-half strikes from Benjamin Jeannot, from the penalty spot, Marvin Gakpa and Romain Philippoteaux.

Mamadou N'Diaye's 12th-minute goal temporarily drew Montpellier level after Jeannot's opener and Souleymane Camara's late effort set up a tense finish but Lorient held on to reach the next round.

Lille fought back from a goal down to beat Troyes 2-1 thanks to second-half goals from Stopilla Sunzu and Sehrou Guirassy.

A stoppage-time strike from Alexandre Mendy earned Nice a 2-1 win at Caen in another absorbing all-Ligue 1 contest.

First-half goals from Lois Diony and Jeremy Bela earned Ligue 2 outfit Dijon a 2-1 win over top-flight side Reims, for whom Gaetan Charbonnier was on target.

The early game between Ligue 1 rivals Ajaccio and Guingamp was abandoned due to bad weather in the 54th minute with the scores tied at 2-2 and will be replayed at a later date.
