Guardiola: We missed Robben (1:49)

Eintracht Frankfurt forward Alex Meier has said he takes no pleasure in the news that Arjen Robben has sustained an injury despite the Bayern Munich star's absence boosting his hopes of finishing the season as the Bundesliga's top goal-scorer.

Meier, 32, currently leads the race for the "Torjagerkanone" after scoring 19 league goals this season, with Robben, on 17, his closest challenger. Bayern striker Robert Lewandowski and Wolfsburg's Bas Dost are joint third on the list with 13 apiece.

Meier's chances of claiming the award received a significant boost when Robben picked up an abdominal muscle injury during Bayern's 2-0 defeat to Borussia Monchengladbach at the weekend, with the Netherlands star reported to be facing up to eight weeks on the sidelines.

However, Meier told Bild on Tuesday that he took no pleasure in the news of Robben's absence.

"It's just s---," he said. "I don't wish Robben an injury like that. It's not about the 'canon' -- it's just bad for the Bundesliga. The Bundesliga needs superstars like Robben. Hopefully he'll back on the pitch soon."
