England wait on Jamie Vardy, Kyle Walker, Ashley Young fitness after Colombia win

England will wait 24 hours before assessing the fitness of Jamie Vardy, Kyle Walker and Ashley Young following Tuesday's penalty shootout win over Colombia.

All three are doubts for the quarterfinal against Sweden in Samara on Saturday after reporting problems to the England medical team after the victory in Moscow.

But as Gareth Southgate's squad did not return to their Repino training camp near St Petersburg until the early hours of Wednesday morning, the initial plan is to allow all the players to rest and sleep before fully assessing their fitness on Thursday.

Leicester forward Vardy ended the game with a groin problem which contributed to him not taking one of England's first five penalties. Walker suffered cramp, while Young left the game with an ankle injury in extra time.

Southgate's squad were due to take part in a light training session in Repino on Wednesday afternoon as part of the recovery process and will fly to Samara on Friday.

The FA has not yet confirmed when midfielder Fabian Delph will return to Russia after flying back to England to be at the birth of his son.
