          Brighton's Anthony Knockaert named Championship Player of the Season

          Brighton winger Anthony Knockaert has won the EFL's Championship Player of the Season award as well as making it into its Team of the Season.

          Knockaert, 25, has helped Brighton to the top of the Championship table with 13 goals in 40 games, with the club on the verge of being promoted to the Premier League for the first time in their history.

          "We are in a massive position and we are going to try everything to do it [win promotion]," Knockaert said after winning his award. "We are really delighted to be where we are now but we know it's not the end and we need to do it."

          Knockaert saw off competition from Leeds United's New Zealand international Chris Wood and Newcastle United striker Dwight Gayle to win the award. Wood and Gayle are currently the Championship's top two leading scorers with 24 and 22 goals respectively.

          Knockaert, along with Wood and Gayle, were also named in the EFL's Team of the Season, which is made up of players from the Championship, League One and League Two.

          Knockaert's Brighton teammate David Stockdale was named in the team, with Leeds, who sit fifth in the Championship, also having two representatives -- Pontus Jansson being their other player.

          Huddersfield Town's Australia international Aaron Mooy, currently on loan from Manchester City, also makes the cut.

          Meanwhile, Brighton also had success in the Goal of the Year award, with midfielder Steve Sidwell taking the prize for his 50-yard lob against Bristol City in November.
