Dele Alli meeting at Euro 2016 would be 'fairytale' - Wales' George Williams

Wales international George Williams says it would be "a fairytale" to face Dele Alli, his friend and former teammate, at Euro 2016.

Williams and Alli, both 20, rose through the ranks together at MK Dons and their paths are set to realign when Wales face Alli's England in Lens on June 16.

While Williams was the first of the pair to secure a big move, joining then Premier League side Fulham in 2012, he is still rebuilding his career after missing nine months with a knee injury that he suffered while playing alongside Alli in February 2015, when both were back on loan at MK Dons.

Alli, meanwhile, has emerged as one of the brightest talents in English football after being named PFA Young Player of the Year and playing a key part in Tottenham's Premier League title challenge.

Fulham attacker Williams, who spent last season on loan at Gillingham, says he is proud of his friend's progress and is relishing the prospect of facing him in France.

"That would just be a fairytale story, wouldn't it? Coming up through the same team at 10 years old, and playing against each other in the Euros," Williams told the Daily Telegraph.

"Oh, we'd definitely go at each other. It would be just like when we were younger.

"We're constantly reminiscing. We had so much fun together: in football, out of football. Unbelievable memories of family holidays together. Me, [Alli's brother] Harry and Dele, we're just brothers.

"I'm so proud of him. He's worked so hard to get where he is now. He can do things with the ball that normal people can't, and the way he thinks on the pitch is unbelievable. His work ethic's unbelievable. He's only going to get better. But I could tell from when I first saw him that he was special.

"It was always me and Dele. It was always who could get one over on the other in training, who could nutmeg someone. And that helped us in the long-term."
