Denmark international striker Nicki Bille Nielsen faces up to eight years in prison if convicted of biting a policeman in his native country, Le Dauphine Libere has reported.

Nielsen, 27, will appear before a Danish court on Thursday after being arrested in Copenhagen in April last year.

The Evian Thonon Gaillard forward, who was playing for Norwegian side Rosenborg at the time of the alleged incident, could still yet feature for his relegation-threatened club against Bastia on Saturday.

According to the Guardian, Nielsen was arrested after kicking a parking meter -- and when he was put in the back of the police van he had to be sprayed with pepper spray before the alleged biting incident.

"He is quiet here with his family," Evian teammate Jesper Hansen told Le Dauphine Libere earlier this week. "He is a sensitive man, with a lot of heart. He is a good person.

"On the field, he is a fighter who works hard every training session. When he was younger, he liked to party. Now he is quieter and there are no paparazzi here."
