Evian, a Ligue 1 side only two seasons ago, will start from scratch in the seventh tier of French football after being disbanded and re-formed.
The club, who once counted Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane and fellow World Cup-winner Bixente Lizarazu among their minority shareholders, were relegated from the top flight in 2014-15 and dropped out of Ligue 2 the following year.
After being placed into liquidation in August 2016, Evian did not have a senior team in competition last season with only their under-19 side in action.
They have now been renamed Thonon Evian Savoie and will play in the Regional 2 league next season.
