Uruguay forward Luis Suarez is no stranger to controversy, and after he appeared to bite Italy's Giorgio Chiellini on the shoulder Tuesday in their final Group D World Cup match, here's a look at some other incidents from his past.
- April 21, 2013: He was suspended 10 games by England's FA for biting Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic in a league game in the 2012-13 season. Liverpool drew 2-2 on a game-tying goal by Suarez. "I was angry after giving away a penalty -- I completely lost it," Suarez said later in a newspaper interview. Suarez had been shown a yellow card for a different incident in the match.
- Oct. 15, 2011: He was accused of making a racially charged comment at Patrice Evra in a Manchester United vs. Liverpool game that ended in a 1-1 draw. Suarez was not booked in the match. He was fined 40,000 pounds and received an eight-match suspension. Suarez has denied these accusations. In a later game, Suarez refused to shake Evra's hand before kickoff.
- Nov. 20, 2010: While playing for Ajax, he received a seven-match ban for biting PSV Eindhoven's Otman Bakkal in a game. The game finished 0-0. Suarez was not booked in the match.
- July 2, 2010: At the 2010 World Cup, he famously received a red card in the last minute of extra time in a quarterfinal match against Ghana when he stopped the ball at the goal line with his hands. He received a red card, but Asamoah Gyan missed the penalty kick. Uruguay advanced on penalty kicks, appearing in a World Cup semifinal for the first time since 1970.
