Adil Rami says sorry for criticism of France boss Didier Deschamps

Sevilla defender Adil Rami has said he made a mistake by criticising France coach Didier Deschamps.

A week ago Rami, 30, voiced his frustration after being left out of the France squad for Euro 2016.

He claimed Deschamps had told him to move from AC Milan to Sevilla rather than Lyon in order to earn an international recall.

But after calling up Rami to replace injured Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane, Deschamps said he had never given such advice.

A day later, Rami said he was in the wrong and had realised that after Deschamps held a private meeting with him.

"The goal for me was to return to the French team," Rami told BeIN Sports on Thursday.

"The career choices were [made] in order to be able to return to the French team.

"I found myself in front of the manager... He's restored my confidence.

"I'm not going to say exactly what he said. But I know, and everything proves it, that the error was on my side.

"I've always been forthright in what I say, but that doesn't mean I have the right to make mistakes. I take responsibility for my errors."
