Nantes' Moses Simon '100 percent' ready to attack Messi's PSG

Playing against the most fearsome frontline in French football will inspire Nantes to raise their level a notch or two, and take the game to the Paris Saint-Germain defence, according to forward Moses Simon.

With Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappe to contend with, Simon is well aware that the Canaries are the underdogs going into the clash against the league leaders, but told ESPN that his team are excited about the challenge.

"I have been looking forward a hundred percent and waiting for the day that we play PSG," the Nigeria international said.

"Now they have one of the best teams in the world and they will be favourites but anything can happen in football. Who says we cannot go there and win? We don't have to be worried just because they have a great team and great players. Anything can happen in football."

Simon currently sits third on the Ligue 1 assists standings and has been one of the stand out performers on the Canaries team, winning back to back Player of the Month awards in August and September.

The 26-year-old is looking to a matchup with PSG's stars, especially Messi, to bring out the best in him: "For me, his presence will affect my own game positively because he is one the best players in the world.

"It will give young players like me and others a boost to play against Messi.
Of course playing against him doesn't mean letting him dribble all over you.

"But it is a privilege to play against such a player because it makes you take your own game up a different level to try to match him and even try to do better than him."

Moses added that the timing of the game would favour his less-fancied side: "It is also good for us that we are playing them after the international break and they have a lot of international players.

"We know they are some of the best players in the world. But football is about teamwork and as long as we play as a team, anything is possible."

While Neymar has been ruled out of the fixture with injury, the Nigerian is concerned about the attacking threat posed by the league leaders, and says the best form of defence is attack.

PSG has struggled with defensive issues since the start of the season, and look brittle at the back, conceding 13 goals so far for the season, just three less than Nantes and more than all but one of the top five.

Former Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos has been brought in to help plug that vulnerability and looks likely to make his first start on Saturday against a Nantes team which has scored in seven of their last eight games.

Simon insists that attacking that backline is Nantes' -- and other teams' -- best hope of pegging back the Parisiens.

He said: "Everybody will count on Messi, Neymar and Mbappe to get goals for them. That attacking force is scary, but believe me, it will not be easy for them.

"Their defence especially will suffer the effect, because for attackers like me in Ligue 1, the same pain that their attack is trying to do to our defenders is what we will be doing to their defenders too."
