Cristian Tello joins Fiorentina on loan after Barcelona end Porto deal

Cristian Tello is headed to Fiorentina on loan after Barcelona "rescinded" the winger's deal with FC Porto, according to a statement on the club's website.

Tello, 24, was nearing the end of a two-year deal with Porto that began in July 2014 and will be with the Serie A club until the end of the season.

The Barcelona statement read: "FC Barcelona and ACF Fiorentina have reached an agreement for the loan of Cristian Tello until 30 June 2016, his current loan agreement until the end of the season with FC Porto is rescinded.

"With this new loan, ACF Fiorentina will take over the conditions of the agreement between FC Barcelona and FC Porto."

Fiorentina are fourth in the league, six points behind Napoli having lost three of their last five games in the Italian top flight.

Tello joins Mauro Zarate from West Ham and Tino Costa, formerly of Spartak Moscow, as Fiorentina continue their league for Champions League places.

The Spaniard had a strong season in 2014-15 under then manager Julen Lopetegui, scoring eight goals in 33 games in the Champions League and the Portuguese top flight.

Since Lopetegui parted ways with Porto, Tello's form has suffered and he's been given less chances with the first team, playing in just 11 league games.

Fiorentina host Torino on Sunday.
