Ibrahim Kamara leaves Ivory Coast head coach role by mutual consent

Ibrahim Kamara has left his role as Ivory Coast head coach, the Ivorian Football Federdation (FIF) announced on Thursday.

Kamara, 53, was handed the job in 2018 after the FIF parted ways with Marc Wilmots.

An FIF statement read: "Following a meeting of the executive committee on Feb. 13, at the request of the executive committee, the president of the Ivorian Football Federation met national head coach Ibrahim Kamara on Thursday Feb. 20.

"Following courteous exchanges, the parties decided a mutual agreement to bring to an end their collaboration from this day.

"The Ivorian Football Federation thanks the national coach for his contribution to the national teams and wishes him good luck for the rest of his career."

Kamara guided the Elephants to the 2019 African Cup of Nations but they were knocked out in the quarterfinals against eventual winners Algeria.

The national team return to AFCON qualification in March with two games against Madagascar next month.
