Magaye Gueye leaves Everton

Magaye Gueye has left Everton after having his contract terminated by mutual consent a year early, the club have confirmed.

The 23-year-old striker, who played for Senegal at the 2012 Olympics in London, moved to Merseyside from French club Strasbourg for one million pounds in 2010.

Gueye -- whose contract was set to expire in June 2015 -- made only five Premier League starts in four seasons at Everton, although he did appear regularly as a substitute during the 2011-12 campaign.

The former France under-21 international scored his only league goal for the club in a 4-0 victory over Sunderland in April 2012.

Gueye was sent out on loan to French club Brest in January 2013, failing to score in eight matches as they were relegated from Ligue 1.

He played only nine minutes for Everton under Roberto Martinez last season, but scored in a 4-0 FA Cup fourth-round victory at Stevenage on Jan. 25.
