Stoke City are one of a number of English sides interested in Livorno striker Paulinho, according to the Italian club's president.

Mark Hughes' side have already been busy in the transfer market this summer, completing deals to sign Mame Biram Diouf, Dionatan Teixeira, Phil Bardsley and Steve Sidwell.

And Livorno chief Aldo Spinelli says the Potters are also looking at the option of bringing in Paulinho, although they face competition from Abu Dhabi, as well as elsewhere in England.

"Al Jazira have already spoken with Paulinho, but Stoke City also want him and there are also a couple of other English clubs," Spinelli told Gazzetta dello Sport.

"We will take the decision which is best for everyone together.

"What I can say is that the negotiations [with Al Jazira] have started and in the coming hours we will know more about this, with everything still open, and talk to the player to work out the best opportunity."

Paulinho, a 28-year-old Brazilian, scored 15 Serie A goals in 35 matches for Livorno last season.
