Aston Villa striker Nicklas Helenius has returned to Aalborg on a season-long loan deal, the Premier League club have announced.#INSERT type:inline END#

Helenius, 23, struggled to make an impact since joining the Villans from the Danish outfit last summer, making just six appearances -- each of which were as a substitute -- in all competitions.

The Denmark international scored once during those games, netting in the 2-1 home FA Cup loss to Sheffield United in January.

Helenius will spend the 2014-15 campaign with Aalborg, who are coached by former Villa defender Kent Nielsen.

Villa owner Randy Lerner has promised not to let his intended sale of the club affect manager Paul Lambert's preseason preparations, while Roy Keane has been named Lambert's assistant manager.
