Inter boss hints at Gary Medel deal

Inter Milan president Erick Thohir has indicated that Cardiff's Chile international midfielder Gary Medel is on his way to Serie A.

- Wilson: Inter tour begins with a win

Thohir said the arrival of Medel and a striker would complete the club's summer transfer business.

Speaking from Washington, where Inter are on tour, he told reporters: "With the arrival of Medel, and a quality forward, we would be able to aim for the Champions League."

But Cardiff chairman Mehmet Dalman insisted Medel, who played for Chile at the World Cup in Brazil, would not be going anywhere unless the club's valuation of him was met.

Medel, who has said he is a target for Serie A clubs, joined the Blueboirds last summer but was unable to prevent them from being relegated after one season back in the top flight.

But Cardiff value him at around 10 million pounds, and it is thought that Inter have not come close to matching that figure and are prepared to pay only up to seven million pounds.

"We are not going to take a loss on a player who was a World Cup star in Brazil," Dalman told Wales Online. "We have made it clear what our price is, and that won't change.

"We will do the right thing for Cardiff City and the player. There are clubs interested in him, but we have not reached agreement with anybody so far."
