The 34-year-old could be available to make his debut for Sunderland when they welcome Arsenal to the Stadium of Light in the Premier Lague on Saturday, pending international clearance from the Italian Football Federation.
Reveillere, a member of France's 2010 World Cup and Euro 2012 squads, began his career at Rennes, before moving on to Lyon, where he spent 10 years and won five Ligue 1 titles.
The right-back spent last season with Napoli, making 18 appearances for the Serie A club and helping them to the Coppa Italia, before his contract expired at the end of the campaign.
