Newcastle have recalled young defender Remie Streete from his loan spell at Port Vale amid a mounting injury crisis.
The 20-year-old, who has made three appearances for the League One side, had agreed to extend his stay until January last week.
But with Magpies boss Alan Pardew having lost Steven Taylor and Fabricio Coloccini to injuries and Mike Williamson still working his way back to fitness, Streete has been summoned back to Tyneside.
A statement on the club's official website read: "Remie Streete has been recalled from his loan spell with League One side Port Vale.
"Last week the 20-year-old, who has made three appearances for the Valiants, agreed to extend his stay at Vale Park until Jan. 4, 2015."
Taylor missed Sunday's 2-0 Premier League victory at West Brom -- the club's fifth in a row in all competitions -- with an unspecified knock, but Pardew expects him to have recovered by the time QPR arrive at St James' Park following the international break.
Pardew has enjoyed success with throwing his young players in at the deep end in recent weeks with Paul Dummett, Mehdi Abeid, Rolando Aarons and Ayoze Perez all shining, although Aarons is himself facing another spell on the sidelines with a recurrence of a hamstring problem.
Captain Coloccini limped off during the Magpies' win at the Hawthorns having scored his side's second goal, with Pardew adding: "It's a shame we lost him to injury. We're a little bit concerned about that. It's just a calf injury -- not too serious, we don't think."
