FC Dallas gives Fabian Castillo new five-year deal

Fabian Castillo has signed a new five-year contract with FC Dallas, the MLS club announced on Tuesday.

Castillo, 22, starred in midfield for Dallas last season, scoring 10 goals in 26 starts while being named the team's most valuable player.

A Colombia youth international, Castillo has played for FC Dallas for four seasons since a move from Deportivo Cali, scoring 20 goals.

FC Dallas technical director Fernando Claijo says the best is yet to come from Castillo.

"We're very excited to have secured the services of Fabian Castillo for the future," said technical director Fernando Clavijo. "He is the future of this franchise. He is a player we have been able to help grow. We also believe he has yet to achieve his full potential. FC Dallas has a more mature and complete player in Fabian today than we did a few years ago, but each year he remains with FC Dallas, the better he will become."

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
