Real Madrid agree loan for goalkeeper Augusto Batalla - River Plate president

Real Madrid have agreed a loan deal for 18-year-old River Plate goalkeeper Augusto Batalla with a view to a permanent transfer in 2016, according to the Argentine club's president.

The Argentina under-20 keeper will join the Champions League holders this summer on a season-long loan, with Real having the option of making the move a permanent one next year.

River Plate president Rodolfo D'Onofrio is quoted by Marca as saying: "The contract hasn't been signed yet but in June, Batalla will go to Real Madrid on a one-year loan, with an option to buy for a large sum."

Real have Iker Casillas, Keylor Navas and Pacheco on the books, though the latter two have failed to displace current No. 1 Casillas despite his recent indifferent form.

Argentina under-20 coach Humberto Grondona said of Batalla in January: "Real Madrid are guaranteed a goalkeeper with a brilliant future. Augusto has everything he could need to go on making progress.

"It's not just that he has footballing qualities that make him stand out from the rest, but also that as a person he is very mature for his age."

Batalla could start his Real career with B side Castilla, but is expected to train alongside the first-team squad as 16-year-old Martin Odegaard currently does.

Marca reports that Real have been chasing the signature of Batalla since the goalkeeper impressed as River Plate won the Under-17 Club World Cup in Madrid in May 2013.
