James McFadden on trial at Philadelphia Union

Scottish forward and Premier League veteran James McFadden is currently on trial with the Philadelphia Union.

Union coach Jim Curtin said the former Birmingham City striker is looking for a spot on the Major League Soccer side after he was released by St Johnstone over the summer.

"Obviously he comes from a tremendous pedigree. He played at the highest level," Curtin told CBS Philly.

"At the moment he's returning to full fitness off of an injury. So we'll have him in, take a look, and give him a few days to impress. We're always looking to upgrade the roster."

McFadden, 32, earned 48 Scotland caps between 2002 and 2010. He spent 2 1/2 years at Blues following his £5m move from Everton in January 2008.
