Toronto FC's Sebastian Giovinco was named to the MLS Best XI on Monday after being controversially left out of the MVP finalists last month.

The Italian playmaker provided 17 goals and 15 assists but the three finalists for the top individual award -- to be announced on Tuesday -- were Sacha Kljestan, David Villa and Bradley Wright-Phillips, all of whom were also named to the Best XI.

Giovinco was the only player from MLS Cup finalists Toronto FC and the Seattle Sounders who were named to the team.

Philadelphia's Andre Blake, who already won Goalkeeper of the Year, and Defender of the Year Matt Hedges of FC Dallas also made the Best XI.

Hedges and Giovinco were the only players to also receive the honor last season.

Goalkeeper: Andre Blake (Philadelphia Union)
Defenders: Matt Hedges (FC Dallas); Axel Sjoberg (Colorado Rapids); Jelle Van Damme (LA Galaxy)
Midfielders: Mauro Diaz (FC Dallas); Giovani dos Santos (LA Galaxy); Sacha Kljestan (New York Red Bulls); Ignacio Piatti (Montreal Impact)
