Manchester City's Bacary Sagna to have scan on groin injury

MANCHESTER -- Bacary Sagna will have a scan on a groin injury that could rule him out of France's World Cup qualifiers later this month.

The French defender was a 65th-minute substitute in Manchester City's 1-1 draw with Liverpool on Sunday but aggravated his injury.

Sagna picked up the problem in City's 3-1 defeat to Monaco on Wednesday night, which resulted in them being dumped out of the Champions League on the away goal's rule.

Pep Guardiola decided to leave him out of the starting lineup to face Liverpool and with Pablo Zabaleta also picking up a knock, City started with Fernandinho at full-back.

Sagna says he will join up with France for their games against Luxembourg on Saturday and Spain the following Tuesday.

Asked if he was okay, Sagna told reporters: "I'm not really, but I am joining up with international squad.

"I felt tight against Monaco, and I wanted to play today, but maybe that's why the manager was more cautious.

"I don't know, I will have to have a scan tomorrow."
