Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho questioned referee Mark Clattenburg over his failure to award two penalties and send off Manchester City goalkeeper Claudio Bravo in Saturday's 2-1 derby defeat. With United trailing 2-1 just before the hour mark, Bravo produced a poor touch then dived in to challenge Wayne Rooney, leaving the forward in pain. The second incident occurred soon afterwards as United's Antonio Valencia delivered a cross that struck Nicolas Otamendi in the penalty area with the City defender putting an arm behind his back. Mourinho told Sky Sports: "It's a penalty and a red card for Bravo. The second one is also a penalty. He knows the cross is not going in his face but to his back." Speaking at his postmatch news conference, Mourinho added: "Referees are like us and are human. Sometimes they think twice before a big decision. Sometimes they don't think twice. "If there was a penalty and red card with 30 minutes to go, we'd be speaking about a completely different match. We were punished by a bad first half -- my responsibility -- and punished by Mark's bad decisions in the second half, but that's football." The United manager felt that the loss was a "normal result", saying on MUTV: "You know in this league, you are always going to lose matches, especially against the big teams. Three results are more than possible to happen. "There's a long way to go but, of course, we are disappointed and sad with the defeat."
