Man United's Wayne Rooney, Luke Shaw miss Rostov; Mkhitaryan back

Manchester United club captain Wayne Rooney and left-back Luke Shaw have both been left out of the squad for Thursday's Europa League clash against FC Rostov, but midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan is back for Jose Mourinho's side.

Rooney and Shaw both made rare starts in Saturday's Premier League game against Bournemouth, which ended in a 1-1 draw at Old Trafford, but the pair will not be making the trip to Russia for the first leg of the round-of-16 tie.

Mkhitaryan has been out with a hamstring injury since Feb. 22, when he scored against St Etienne in the last round of the Europa League.

Eric Bailly is another man not travelling for the match as he is suspended following his sending off in that match at the Stade Geeffroy Guichard.

Bastian Schweinsteiger is also absent from the party heading to Russia, with United saying that is "presumably with the minor injury that the boss revealed last Friday".

Striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic and midfielder Paul Pogba were named in the 20-man travelling party, as was 20-year-old goalkeeper Kieran O'Hara.

Squad:

De Gea, Romero, O'Hara; Valencia, Jones, Rojo, Smalling, Blind, Darmian, Young; Carrick, Herrera, Fellaini, Pogba, Mata, Lingard, Mkhitaryan; Martial, Rashford, Ibrahimovic.
