Jose Mourinho hails Daley Blind as a great 'professional' ahead of Man United exit

LOS ANGELES -- Jose Mourinho has branded Daley Blind "one of the most professional players he has ever worked with" in a heartfelt tribute to the Dutchman following his return to Ajax.

Blind has sealed a £14.1 million return to his boyhood club after four seasons at Old Trafford, with sources telling ESPN FC it was Blind's decision to move after being restricted to just four Premier League starts last season.

"I would like to say a big thank you to Daley Blind for everything he has done for the club since he joined in 2014," Mourinho told ManUtd.com.

"I have to say, that in my 18 years of management, Daley is the one of the most professional players, both on and off the pitch, that I have had the pleasure to work with.

"I would like to take this opportunity to wish him all the very best as he rejoins his boyhood club, Ajax, and thank him for from the bottom of my heart for his commitment and dedication over the past two seasons."

In other transfer news, sources have told ESPN FC there are still doubts about Matteo Darmian's future at United despite the Italian travelling to the United States with the squad on Sunday.

There is interest from Juventus and Inter Milan, who are both keen to take the full-back on loan next season. United, according to sources, would prefer a permanent move for a player who cost £12.7 million in 2015.
