Matic unsure of Man United future amid interest from Inter, Spurs

Nemanja Matic is ready to talk to Manchester United about signing a new contract but says he does not know if the club want him to stay.

Matic has a deal until the end of the season but has not been informed whether United will trigger an option to keep him for another year, negotiate a longer extension or let him leave for free in the summer.

"I've got a contract until the end of the season and we will see," said Matic. "I'm at Carrington every day open to talk if they think I can help. If not, life will go on. For sure, there is always a solution."

Matic, who moved to Old Trafford from Chelsea in 2017, has been linked with Inter Milan and a reunion with Jose Mourinho at Tottenham and the 31-year-old admitted there is interest from other clubs.

"I can't tell who is asking for me but for sure when you play at Manchester United, many clubs are looking to sign you," said Matic. "That's not only me, it's for every player -- especially when you're out of contract. My first option is Manchester United but if they decide something else then there are always solutions."

Matic has become a fixture in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's team after injury ruled out Scott McTominay and Paul Pogba, scoring the only goal in the 1-0 win over Manchester City on Wednesday before being sent off.

Two victories at the Etihad Stadium have bookended six weeks during which United have also been beaten by Watford, Arsenal and Burnley and Matic believes the inconsistency is byproduct of Solskjaer putting so much faith in young players.

"The problem is that in these kinds of clubs you do not have time," said Matic. "They want results and this is the problem. We will see what is the plan of the club, if they will continue like this to give chances to youngsters, then you have to expect you will have some ups and downs which is normal.

"You can't blame them, they are giving their best and it is normal but I think United deserve more and the club wants to win, supporters are used to trophies so we will see."
