Melbourne Victory have further bolstered a title-contending A-League squad by signing former Argentina under-20 international Matias Sanchez.
The 29-year-old leaves his native Argentina for Melbourne in a move he is calling a "football adventure."
Sanchez arrives with a serious pedigree, even if his greatest achievements came a decade ago.
He won the Copa Libertadores -- South America's version of the Champions League -- in 2009 with Estudiantes.
Alongside modern-day greats Sergio Aguero, Ever Banega and Angel Di Maria, he won the Under-20 World Cup in 2007.
The self-described "passionate player and a hard working midfielder" vowed to help Victory contend for a fourth title during his season in Australia.
"I've spent a long time playing in Argentina, so to go on a football adventure to the other side of the world is amazing," he said.
"I hope the Melbourne Victory fans will enjoy the way I play and I will give 100 percent of my quality to help the team."
His move to the A-League is not his first abroad, having spent a season each in America and Greece.
Coach Kevin Muscat said he was impressed by Sanchez's winning record.
"Mati is a terrific signing for us. His resume speaks for itself. He's been in some very strong teams in Argentina and more importantly he's tasted success at club level," he said.
"It's going to be a big season for us with Asian Champions League commitments too so depth is absolutely crucial if we're going to withstand a busy schedule."
Sanchez has signed a one-year deal, joining internationals Mark Milligan, Rhys Williams and Kosta Barbarouses as additions to Victory's playing ranks.
Victory started its season with a 6-1 defeat of A-League rivals the Brisbane Roar in the FFA Cup.
